Those are really good old school Soviet squat stands, a gym I used to train at that was also a gym during the Soviet times has one of those and its a pleasure to work with, a lot better than many more modern squat stands. I´m not sure if they make those anymore though, you might be able to find some second hand stuff in Eastern Europe/former Soviet countries.

I was bored and reading the London 2012 94 kg page, apparently Ivanov was disqualified for weighing in at 94.5 kg? I thought he had some knee problem or some ****, at least ostensibly.

Has anyone here experimented with rack walkouts (loading up a bar with weights above your max and simply feeling the weight on your back/front) in preparation for heavier squats? Have you found them useful?

Yeah, I was never clear on this either. Did you skip a grade or two DaTruth? I'll graduate with my bachelors degree this June, a month after my 22nd birthday.

Pretty sure half the posters in here are child prodigies. I think the entire poverty crew will be earning degrees from some of California's most esteemed institutions, pretty sure ftwrestler is retired comfortably at 24 (married and seemingly lifts all day long at various gyms, do you even work?), and DaTruth is like 17 with an M.D.

In other news, I'm making some resolutions for 2013:

    - Buy my first home
    - Clean up my diet (lots of meat + veggies + fruits + sweet potatoes + a little dairy + nothing else), coinciding with not spending $30 per day on food
    - Quit drinking for January and February to see what effect, if any this has on my gains and my wallet
    - Clean and Jerk 130 kg
    - Snatch 100 kg
    - Back Squat 200 kg
    - Front Squat 170 kg
    - Deadlift 250 kg
    - Press my bodyweight

Actually I found Ace bandages are way better then wraps, less bulk + you can wrap them tighter. And if my knees are feeling like **** I can even throw my Rehbands on top of them.

Oops -- played a season of minor league ball with a guy who pitched at Fullerton, pretty sure he had trouble spelling his own name. The rest of your crew go to pretty good schools though, no? Didn't my man Obama go to Oxy? And I'm pretty sure CalTech students have the highest average IQ of any university in the world.

BS 2x what you snatch? aiming pretty high on the brute strength lifts compared to the oly lifts. Good luck though, did you end up getting the eleiko set?

    I snatch 107 with 109 misses behind and I squat ~400lbs as my 1rm

i usually do them from the front in order to get used to holding the weight before a jerk but its part of me doing jerk drives which is also to help for the jerk. i used to do them for back squats when i was powerlifting to get used to the weight.

i prep my front squat maxes by doing my current max or more as a back squat for reps and speed. this only works because my current back squat form is very quad based like my front squat. i try not to have my ass shoot out is what i mean

Stumbled upon this video of possibly the worst clean I´ve ever seen:
    Strength + Speed = Power

If you never fail, you aren't truly pushing yourself to the limit. If you never push yourself to the limit, how do you know what you're truly capable of?

    today work out so far

pinned half squats: worked to 210kg for 5 triples

snatches : 5x3 working up my last triple of 89kg

CnJ 4x3 1x2: working to 100kg on my last triple, 105kg on my last double

    front squats: 5x2 speed doubles @ 110-120

paused front squats @ 4 singles working to 120 for 2 singles

That's not so bad, it just means you're channeling Chinese squat jerk efficiency. Some of them can close grip OHS out the rack more than they FS.

130 squat jerk is ridiculous, though. GJDM.
