Hey guys,
haven't worked out in 4 months (recovering from concussion). Even though I tried to limit my carb intake, I still gained quite a bit of fat, wasn't easy for me, first time ever I couldn't do any physical effort for 4 months.
Anyway, I wanna try and do the 30 day challenge from Robb Wolf's book (the Paleo Solution). I've been approx. 70% paleo for about a week, already feel ten times better. Much more energy, no crashes during the day, feel overall much better.
I need to lose quite a bit of fat. Can this paleo diet work well? I'm also gonna start working out again at the same time so paleo diet + working out again on Monday = can it work to lose quite a bit of fat?

Paleo diet for weight loss
I don't want to accept this as my prime.
I don't want anything in my life, as it currently is, to be the pinnacle of what it will be.

Paleo is probably the most retarded fad diet at the moment.
Set your protein, track your macros and calories. Eat bits of everything get fitter and be in a deficit.
If you want to limit food selection for no reason other then because some pseudoscientific idiot thinks its a good idea then go ahead. But unless you have allergies then there isnt going to be any effects.

Dude, all I know is that I feel better when I don't eat grains (pasta/bread/cookies,...). Sure they're delicious but I feel better. I have more energy, more focus, less digestive problems, no energy crashes during the day, feel overall 10x better. So if eating foods that make me feel better is a fad, then so be it.

If you have celiac disease or a medical condition that doesn't allow you to eat certain foods, it's good. If not, you're just depriving yourself for no real reason, especially if you want to build muscle. Counting calories, macros and micros lets you enjoy life and food more.
I have a video on it if you're interested.

I feel better when I don't eat pasta/bread, I don't feel pain when I do eat those kinds of foods but I do feel sluggish, tired, and moody.
I need to lose approx 10lbs of fat, I'm gonna give paleo a chance, 30 day challenge, if it works, it works, if it doesn't then I'll change.I don't want to accept this as my prime.

Personal preference is most important with food selection. Good choice, trying it out for a month, see if you can survive lol. But keep in mind that calorie counting and a balanced diet's results will trump any fad diet that tries to pin the blame of fat on some scapegoat (carbs, "processed food", fat).

Irritable bowel syndrome? Nah don't think so brah. I don't have serious problems at all when I eat grains, it's just that I feel less bloated, less lethargic, have more energy and focus when I don't eat grains. I've lived my whole life with grains, I haven't felt terrible and sad but I sure feel a difference when I don't eat grains.
I don't want to accept this as my prime.

I don't know, I'm not an expert but I feel better when I don't eat the stuff (pasta/bread,...)
I'll still be eating meat, fish, chicken, fruit, veggies, nuts, spices, potatoes (sweet). I'm just gonna try it out for a month, if I feel better without grains in my life then so be it. The whole evolutionary/biochemistry of the primal/paleo solution kinda makes sense I think. If I feel like shyt, then I'll change, but I'm already feeling better; I reduced my bread/pasta intake recently, feel better.
Mind you, there's nothin tastier than a big plate of pasta, right. Well I feel better when I don't eat that, feel less bloated, etc...I don't want to accept this as my prime.

If this is true, then it's all fine and well to eliminate foods that cause you digestive problems. Nobody is knocking that.
However, paleo is not a "fat loss diet". You can gain weight eating paleo-style, lose weight, or maintain. Whether you're successful in fat loss or not will be determined by your ability to maintain a deficit. For more info read: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showth...hp?t=121703981

Thank goodness you had a video of a pre-pubescent child explaining everything to us.
Of course it's not the only way to lose weight, but low carb diets in general HAVE been shown in peer reviewed journals to be the single best diet available for overall health. For a real video worth watching go to youtube and search "The Battle of the Diets: Is Anyone Winning (At Losing?)" for a recent talk given at Stanford by a well known PhD with a read study/information worth knowing.

Just to be precise, I'm not looking for a "diet" to simply lose weight and look good. I'm looking for an overall diet/lifestyle that would better suit me than what I've always been eating. I'm giving this a one month shot, we'll see.
I don't want to accept this as my prime.

The overall diet and lifestyle that you should look for is simply one made up of foods you enjoy that don't come with negative side effects. If you feel sluggish and bloated eating pasta, then don't eat pasta, but that doesn't mean you need stop cooking your foods and only eating "unprocessed" food.
And to re-iterate the idea once again, the only reason it works is because of a calorie deficit. Following a ridiculous fad diet only works because of a calorie deficit.
It only works because of a calorie deficit.Best Meet Lifts:

paleo isnt really such a dumb diet. the foods they consume are very much based around non processed foods. which according to studies have a much higher satiety index than most foods.
Now strictly following such a diet, thinking you are better than anyone else is ridiculous.
dont get me wrong. i love my breads, rice, grains, etc. the main issue is the one the paleo dieters have presented themselves
it is much EASIER to diet off of "paleo" foods filling wise but we all know calories deficiency matters in the end

It's just a senseless fad diet. It's nothing more than that. It's a guy trying to make his share off of the ignorance of the general population. It's just as senseless as all the other diet propaganda that we have thrown at us on a daily basis.

I could have gotten this info for free online. Nobody forced me to buy the book.
Also, you're saying that eating paleo, which is eating meat, fruit, veggies, nuts, healthy fats, fish without the breads/pasta/flour, which make me feel like shyt, is a fad diet?
Explain plzI don't want to accept this as my prime.
