From what I've read on insulin resistant, it actually affects most of us OBESE people. Not the "fat" people who are just a few pounds overweight, but those on the, say, 100lbs+, it is a big game changer.

You might follow IIFYM, but I honestly think that that notion only serves those people who are fit or never been extremely fat.

I might not be insulin resistant, but it's hard to know, really, so why take chances?

I honestly don't miss the white rice or white bread or soda, but I understand not everyone is equal. If you don't want to give it up, even extremely obese, and you're still losing weight, that's great! Hats off for you!

I'm willing to do a little sacrifice for a *POSSIBLE* benefit simply because being fat has made me desperate and I want it gone. Now. So I'll follow these little advices (which even Lyle McDonald has talked about) in the idea that it might work for me. If it doesn't really apply to me, I'm only missing out on things I don't really care for.

I believe in IIFYM, but only to a certain extent. I have a nagging feeling that 10g of carbs from fiber and 10g of carbs of sugar are NOT the same in the aftermath, specially for fat people.

The 10g of fibrous carbs are going to be more filling. The thing with IIFYM is that it's easier to adhere to, and more realistic. You are far less likely to binge on ****, if you eat it sensibly, like a fit person does. Our bodies are very, very efficient. Also, the chances that you are insulin sensitive at 20 years old are infintesmal. A 45 year old 350 pounder? Sure, maybe that's something they ought to look into.

People lose weight on low carb diets because of the dehydration, and the satiety (you can only shove so much bacon and cheese down your throat) and then say "see? I'm insulin sensitive!"

There is something to eating "clean" especiallly when you are obese. The foods are typically more filling, and even eating at a deficit can seem like a boatload of food.

But, the guy asked a question about brown rice and white rice. The sensible answer is that there is no tangible difference.

Well, I can't refute anything you're saying, but I'll keep it safe, even if needlessly. I still eat my McDonald's every now and then, it's not like I'm an all-out "IIFYM IS BULLSH*T". I just keep an eye out on what can cause insulin spikes as it COULD - or not - hold back my progress.

I bet by now OP has lost interested in the topic.

Gotta love it haha you CAN eat whatever you want as long as it fits in your daily cals and macros but brown rice is more nutritional. Eat whatever you want if you see results

I have lost close to 50lbs in a little less than 4 months and I eat white rice almost everyday. Just count your calories this is bro science. And I was originally 340 so more than 100lbs over weight.
All you have o do it count your calories and you will lose. In the great words of Nite2000 "Put the fork down"

I think everyone agrees insulin resistance isn't broscience, it's just people don't think it's very common. I don't know how common it is or isn't, but either way I'd rather eat some more nutritious food just for the hell of it.

I can't fit rice into my macros either way, be it brow, white, black or green, I don't have enough carb-space for it.

Where are you getting your carbs from? Just bored and curious.

I hardly ever eat rice, myself. But if I do, it's gonna be white.

Delicious milk and whole grain bread make the bulk of it. Note that I eat whole wheat bread for the taste, always loved it.

Then the rest comes basically from peanut butter, cheese, etc. Everything has a little bit of carb in it.

Really dude? A 265 pound guy can't fit rice into his macros, what has this world come to? Sigh...
"Everyone thinks they're on their way to single digit body fat as soon as they see a blurry four-pack in the right lighting.Your final body weight at 5-6% will be a lot less than what you think.Talk to me again when you get in contest shape." I'd be willing to say that 95% of people on this forum accomplish nothing in years, don't be one of those people. It's sad, they seem to have the knowledge many don't but can't utilize it.

Haha, 100g of carbs, dude. I'd rather eat 2 cups of black beans than 1 cup of black beans and 1 of rice. Not a big fan of rice, it's what I'm trying to say... I rather skip rice and have more of something else.
