    What does pump mean???

Im reading the word pump all over now adays and im completely clueless as to what it means.
For example when I went to GNC today to purchase NO2 black (after reading it in a magazine and understanding the concept of how it works and how it benefits) the sales clerk asked "your getting this because your looking for more pump?" I asked him what it was and he explained but I just felt even more clueless than before I asked him.

So I just want to know what the term means.
    On the bottle it states:
    "more perpetual pump"

    Thanks in advance

    no.....

pumps are a feeling you get in you're muscles after doing an exercise. For example if you do some hi rep curls, you should feel a pump/burning after in your arm/bicep.

I'm not sure what the exact science is but I think it has to do with blood flowing into your muscles....

Go watch pumping Iron and you'll understand everything. A pump is what you get from working out. The muscles being worked get engorged with blood and they get tight and full. This pump feeling though usually subsides after the workout. Taking NO supps and creatine allows for more blood and water to fill the muscle during your workout causing the fascia around the muscle to expand which could lead to bigger muscles in the long run. Its almost a euphoric feeling when you really get a nice pump going making you feel huuuuge and unstoppable

Well I think you're thinking of being "pumped up". Pumps are a different thing though.

I think Creatine is a wonderful product, one of the few that has science to back it up. Yes!
I recently went from 226 to 166 myself, restricting myself to an 1800 calorie a day diet over 3 months, lifting for one hour, and doing cardio for two. Creatine, fish oil, and a great multi, were the only supplements I used during that phaze. When I reached my target weight (well 8 lbs below it) I added a ton of of supplements and about 1800 more calories a day. Whey protein (whey + casein at nights + a blend), Green Mag (switched from generic Creatine Monohydrate(sp?)), White Flood & purple wraath (guess i like controlled labs-yes my multi is Orange Triaad.

I would add creatine, a multi-vitamin and a fish oil during your extreme weight loss phaze, yes oil helps weight loss for god knows what reason.

If you are overweight, I would stop using NO products completely. They are a borderline supplement at best, and that is for people in top shape who want some extra, temporary vascularity. I have seen no studies that suggest that NO products have any effect on strength/muscular gains.

Creatine is a great supplement and should be a staple for you. Don't worry, it won't make you fat, or make you gain weight. Weight gain or loss is a product of your diet, period. Creatine will help you build strength, which is what you are shooting for if you want to be gaining muscle.

No. Pump has nothing to do with energy or focus. Next time you are in the gym bb flat bench 135 lbs for 20-25 reps. Do that for 3 sets with only 1 minute rest in between and the feeling you get especially in your chest is a pump. You'll walk around feeling bigger and stronger until the pump is lost. The goal is to keep the pump going by minimizing rest between sets. The NO can help intensify the pump and help it come in quicker. Another thing I'd like to add is that if you are overweight, be careful with NO products. My experience with NO products is that they seem to raise my heart rate really high and I sometimes felt flushed. It's a weird feeling that's hard to explain.

You dont have to explain, Im feeling it right now.
Now I am about 15 pounds overweight (considering my frame). My chest is sort of defined and most of the fat is in my obliques and stomach. However after taking the recommended dosage, I feel like if my blood pressure dropped to the floor

Just because you haven't seen them doesn't mean they don't exist. There are studies showing improvement in strength from virtually every effective NO ingredient out there

    Hope this answers the question

I asked him what it was and he explained but I just felt even more clueless than before I asked him.

So I just want to know what the term means.
    On the bottle it states:
    "more perpetual pump"

    Thanks in advance
    WHAT IS A PUMP?
    What is Pump?

When our muscles contract (under tension), our blood is unable to flow through and deliver oxygen to the muscle tissues. As a result, the longer time our muscles spend under tension the more suffocated they become because of the lack of oxygen. Our body normally relies on cellular respiration to turn sugar and oxygen into heat, water, atp and carbon dioxide. Think of ATP as money that your body spends to do stuff like jumping, keeping your heart beating etc. In fact, your body produces 30-32 (number varies) ATP for every 1 sugar. However, without oxygen we cannot undergo cellular respiration meaning no ATP. But I can still move the weight around when I have a pump so there must be a different way of producing energy.

    What is Anaerobic Respiration?

Without oxygen, we cannot burn sugar (sugar is literally being burned). Our body is developed with a way to convert sugar into lactic acid which produces 2 ATP. See the difference? 2 ATP vs 30-32 ATP. The longer our body stays under tension the less energy we have in that specific muscle.

This picture is outdated. The experimental evidence and newer textbooks have 30-32 ATP instead of 38
    How Does this benefit me?

If pump means less energy then why does every bodybuilder talks about it so much? When Lactic Acid builds up, our body releases growth hormone to signal the surrounding area to grow which results in bigger blood vessels which means more oxygen for the muscles which results in bigger muscles. See the pattern here? Our body always try to compensate for the punishment we give it. No pain, no gain.
