addicted to hot sauce?

i am semi-serious here. i find that lately i want to put hot sauce on everything i eat, and in between meals i drink it out of the bottle. its like a drug. it gives me and endorphin rush and makes me feel good and warm.

is there a precedent for this? all i think about is hot sauce. i am going through bottles of the stuff a week. do i need to call doctor drew?

You could try switching to mustard from the jar? Ease you off the spice a little.

i think i definitely get an endorphin rush though. and i love the taste. its got to be a vinegary based hot sauce

No doubt...you ever try the Buffalo Wing sauce by Frank's???? Amazing taste and I think it is either no cals or 5 cals per serving.

I put this stuff on everything!

Anytime I cook chicken or turkey burgers I put Franks Wing Sauce on it.

It is a true addiction and the hotter the pepper or sauce the better the rush

Red Hot with the addition of some fresh garlic, 1 roasted jalapeno, honey, butter, Habanero and cayenne powder makes for some incredible wing sauce.


I dehydrated some Habanero peppers this past summer and turned them into powder in my wife?s coffee grinder, "hope she does not use this for a while".

Never tried Texas Petes, but Franks is the shizz. You can get it in a huge jug at Sams. That way it's kind of like buying a pitcher of beer instead of by the glass, and you can dunk your whole head in there.

texas pete is weak. i have some stuff here at my desk called Valentina salsa picante extra hot. its hotter. not like those habanero sauces though. i think i may be ready to drink those straight now

plus capsaicin is quite thermogenic. there are alot of advantages to hot sauce. may even increase IGF-1 production

I saw an episode of Man vs Food, where that guy ate some ghost peppers. He couldn't do it the first 3 times he tried to eat them, and barley got through the foourth time. That stuff looks more like paint remover.

I think I may have seen that same episode; he looked like he was in pain. My curiosity is killing me, I may have to order some seeds and grow some ghost chilies this year.

Insulin-like growth factor-I (IGF-I) plays various important roles in cellular proliferation, differentiation, survival and functions of the cell, thereby contributing to the maintenance of tissue integrity. Although it is well known that growth hormone (GH) increases serum IGF-I levels by stimulating the hepatic production, little is known about the mechanism by which local production of IGF-I in individual tissues is regulated. Stimulation of sensory neurons by capsaicin increases tissue levels of IGF-I and IGF-I mRNA in various organs via increased calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) release in mice. This sensory neuron-mediated IGF-I production contributes to reducing reperfusion-induced liver injury through prevention of apoptosis in mice. Isoflavone, a phytoestrogen, increases CGRP production by increasing its transcription in sensory neurons. Administration of capsaicin and isoflavone increases IGF-I production in hair follicles, thereby promoting hair growth in mice and in volunteers with alopecia. Topical application of capsaicin increases dermal levels of IGF-I by stimulating sensory neurons in mice and increases facial skin elasticity in humans. Plasma and tissue levels of CGRP and IGF-I in spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHR) are lower than those in normotensive Wistar Kyoto rats (WKY), contributing to the development of hypertension, heart failure and insulin resistance in SHR. Administration of capsaicin increases CGRP and IGF-I levels in plasma, kidneys and the heart in SHR to WKY levels, and normalizes mean arterial blood pressure in SHR. Since administration of GH or IGF-I has some deleterious effects, pharmacological stimulation of sensory neurons leading to increased tissue IGF-I levels might be a novel therapeutic strategy for various pathologic conditions.
