depends on your goals...if either way you need to do weights....if your doing it for cardiovascular health then maybe eat something extra so your weight stays the same...cardio is never bad

Just make sure you do the cardio AFTER weightlifting. Long story short: It's better.

If the cardio's super intense it might take away from your energy for weights.

But if you go after weights and go by how you're feelin' then (in my experience) it isn't a bad thing.

I've always split it, generally mile before mile after. It's not a lot of cardio but I like to think it gets my blood pumping and relaxes my muscles I worked out after.. Care to make a short story long?

    ^this

I like to start with some real light cardio for maybe 10 minutes to get the blood flowing, then lift, then sometimes finish up with more cardio if I still have some gas in the tank.

Not really man. It does work your cardiovascular system, but no AT ALL like a good cardio session. Lifting is awesome, but hey, let's not go overboard and make it seem like it does everything.

The way alot of people lift, you can get your heart rate up very high, for an hour or two

not sure what you mean by that but:

cardio is anything that increases the heart's rate
if lifting weights isnt high-intensity cardio, i dont know what is

Your muscles need more oxygen/blood, so your heart needs to beat faster, in between sets

Yup, just make sure you get a sufficient amount of rest time if you want a maximum amount of energy for yourlifts. Depending on which is more important to you, do that first when you have the most amount of energy

Any form of exercise can be considered cardio exercise if it raises the heart rate sufficiently and can be sustained for long periods of time.

I think lifting is applicable here

Yes I guess you're right. I just think it's so different though. Lifting heavy and then resting between sets instead of a steady paced run.

But, I see where you are coming from.
