I just took this quiz http://jerismithready.com/quiz/ and it told me I was a Cougar, with spider, bear, wolverine, and wolf being close behind.

LOL, it doesn't work that way...

The two Authentic Shaman's I've known in passing over the years explained it to me that your spirit guides are not a reflection of you... They are metaphors for what you need help with in your life.

A person who struggles with courage, would attract a courageous animal guide, like a Lion, while a person who lacks vision would attract an eagle or an owl...

Bears are actually powerful symbols of healing.

And in fact they are not actually even considered to be "Animal Spirits" But instead they would be more like spiritual energy forms that possess traits similar to animals that we know in our own cultural consciousness and personal experience.

They are only found through intensive internal reflection, sacrifice and spiritual work... And the relationship that you cultivate with them is one that happens only through a direct experience that is so intimate you wouldn't talk about it, with the the kind of discretion you use not talking about your sex life with your wife at Thanksgiving.

What in the ever loving **** is this? I'm a crow? "Powers: foreseeing death, communicating with the dead, resurrection"
    Crow
    Wolverine
    Hawk
    Owl
    Otter

I guess I can't say it's too far off though:
As a Crow, you are analytical, adaptable, and exceedingly clever. You like solving problems, sharing a hearty laugh with friends, and most of all, enjoying a good meal. Your inquisitive, philosophical nature leads you to constantly question authority and the status quo, sometimes just for the sake of asking, "Why?"
edit: I hit the back button and changed the one answer I was on the fence about.
    Crow (23)
    Wolverine (23)
    Owl (22)
    Hawk (21)
    Fox (19)

In other words, they dunno wtf I am they're all too close to judge. lol

Yeah, starting on Tuesday. I think it's a good move, but I've been the caretaker of an office full of women here for a few years and grown quite attached.

According to that quiz, I'm a bear.

Powers: Fighting ability—strength and speed—along with powers of strategic thinking

You're #1! At least, you're happiest when in charge. You lead with courage, integrity, and compassion. People gravitate to your confidence and charisma, and they feel safe in your care. But be careful not to believe your own hype—stubborn pride is every Bear's downfall.

It's actually pretty accurate for me in real life, even down to the stubborn pride at times.

We were in Kure Beach the second year we had Charlie the Boxer. Some dickhead ran between us and the water almost hitting kids and dogs and I fukn snapped. I was outta my shoes and in the bed of his truck in short order. The only thing that saved that drunken retard from an ass beating was the cop that saw what went down. Afterwards my buddy Roy said you move too goddamn fast for a man as big as you are.

Well survived the weekend so far. Wife and I are actually less tired when it's just the two of us, having to entertain all the various company and their oppinons and directives on how I should raise my kid is more exhausting than just taking care of the kid.

So far, while I'm not fresh as a daisy, she and I are both doing better than we thought, compared to the horror stories we got about living life as walking zombies etc...

However I must admit to tripling my caffeine intake this past week.

Glad things are going well though challenging of course. Can't relate to that radical and demanding of a life change I think. And tripling caffein only happened through working and Uni together times lol. On side note day 5 no cigarettes. Cravings come and go. Joined my old big gym Friday. And adding road work. Sure wish I could go golfing outside. Just starting to lose the snow and they are calling for another snowstorm this week.

    Good work Bro!

You'll be amazed how much more wind you have by around week 6.

Right now the biggest challenge in Baby Raising is company and the in-laws invading. Every time I get the wife and baby on a decent schedule or a plan to start transitioning the baby's schedule, some new person invades our day messes up the schedule and fills my wife's head a new batch of notions that she nods and tries to go along with.

The net effect of which is that the baby gets inconsistency and babies are like addicts they need structure to give them security or they go off the rails.

I'm basically just working a half day today (Baby is currently feeding) just to get the wife and baby back on a reasonable time table.

So are you using any kind of stop smoking aid, or just cold turkey?

Yeah I'm definitely getting the ache for spring.

Yesterday I had to take out the garbage, clear some snow and then dig out around the apple trees (The drifts are higher than the rabbit guards.

And it was just nice to be outside and doing something on a warm day.

Although I still have snow drifts 3+ feet high!

Hopefully you won't have any in-law invasions for awhile so the baby gets structure. Just cold turkey. One day at a time. One of my big triggers was morning coffee (brewing now-Arabic roast). It was the double stims deluxe Now not feeling it. Hitting legs for the first time in quite awhile. Did not have the proper equipment in my apartment other than gripping dumbbells and doing dumbbell squats. Don't want to go balls to the wall because I am moving to ~ 25 miles/week roadwork. Oh and I'm not gaining weight since stopping. Slowly losing weight it seems. It fluctuates of course but I weigh in the morning on an empty stomach and am at 176.5 at 5"8 and last week was 179.5. Not eating more because of not smoking. Being strict. Good that you are having warmer weather and got to enjoy outside time. When it is warm here I may look into camping on my own for a bit. A retreat into nature.

Yeah yesterday was nice and warm... But now today cold harsh winds are powering back in and redrifting the driveway shut in places.

Mother in law is coming tomorrow morning to "Help" with the baby... But we'll see... She and I banged heads really hard this past weekend, when she started TELLING me how to raise my kid instead of Giving Advice...

She was telling me that my baby that was born 2 weeks early was being "Spoiled" at 4 days old.

I can understand how that's a factor as she gets older, but in my world view at 2 weeks early and at that point only having been on the planet for 4 days, there is no such thing as being "Spoiled."

Then she started playing rough with the baby to prove her point and it was everything I could do to keep from punching her in the face and taking the baby back.

I guess you could say I'm still in the over protective phase... But I mean at 10:01 tonight she will officially be 1 week old!

When it comes to the quit... I think a lot of people actually lose weight early on and then once you get past that first week and/or that "Quitters Flu" then the weight gain starts.

But really that first two weeks it's just about getting through it and breaking the physical withdrawls up... Whatever you've got to do, if it's jogging, chewing on a stick or jerking off a panda bear to death... Just getting through that first two weeks sets you up to keep maintaining your success.

I used the patch for the first step and about 75% of the second step, then just threw the 3rd step away.

The only thing it really did was help me separate the physical from the psychological triggers.

Then I found little things to do... Like putting a metholated cough drop in my mouth when driving and keeping my smoking hand on the wheel, kicked the driving crave etc...

For each of us it's different... But it's a good exercise in being mindful to see your triggers and start working on your triggers.

    Keep up the good work!

Wow that would strike a nerve in me too. Training done. Yes it is largely about being mindful. I envisioned a Zen watch once. It looked a lot like a regular watch. However it had no hands and an inner circle with the word Now inside it. A watch you never have to wind, charge with batteries and is correct world wide 24/7

There was a Buddhist in my Communications department at college. (I was the student president of the advertising program) He kind of struggled because really at that stage in the game the college advertising program is trying to teach you the religion of materialism and consumerism bullcrap, which doesn't meld well with most of the buddhist philosophy.

We had a project one day where the professor handed out to each of us slips of paper about a theoretical product and we had to put together a marketing plan. He made it seem like it was random, but then afterwards he admitted that he hand picked it for each of our 2 man teams.

The buddhist guy got a fancy gold rolex watch, and came up with a similar idea to what you just mentioned.

Me and my partner got a "Bone Saw."

Neat. Maybe not as neat as the time travel machine idea I was working on when I was 10-11. For some reason it did not come to fruition . One can always dream

Pretty cool... A while back my uncle sponsored a family genetic heritage test... Several of us took swab samples and sent them to this company that gives you a break down of the genetic drift of your family.

We knew my patriarchal line was from North Eastern Germany and we were probably disended from the Visigoths who sacked Rome.

But you never know what's just family lore etc...

I guess the genetic test confirmed it and not only that there is a modestly high percentage that I am a descendent or the descendent of family member of Alaric (The barbarian king who lead the army)

My wife always says I'm a barbarian... Now we have confirmation!

I have wondered about genetic memories. When I was very young I collected fool's gold and looked for real gold in the woods and such. Had an affinity for caves. When I was fairly grown up I found out that way back on my Father's side of the family there were gold miner's, prospectors. There was a large find of Gold around where my Father grew up.
