Hey,
I "was" eating brown rice until i sort of.. leaned my way to white rice. But i checked the macros for it and its like 84gs of carbs per 100g and the rest was 0 fat, sodium etc except protein i forgot what it was but it was quite low.
The rice is Jasmine rice. Is this rice alright to replace brown?
Reasons why i dislike brown rice are it taster like burnt potatoe skin, bit dry, i just hate it

It's not bad.
On an absolute scale, it's not the "best" (define it) depending upon what criteria you are evaluating. But on a practical scale - the one that actually matters, not much difference when considering you consume it in a mixed meal and in a fed state. It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it.

Think of it as corn flakes instead of oats or bran flakes.

Go check out white bread vs wheat bread at Nutritiondata.com.
Seriously this is another food comparison that is almost like splitting hairs.
Really it doesn't seem like worrying about brown rice over white rice or wheat bread over white bread is worth the trouble. This is probably why the new 2005+ food pyramid puts more emphasis on vegetables in the carb macro (vegetables definitely are very nutrition dense unlike these other things people talk about)

Honestly knowing what foods are truly nutritious and what foods are "hyped" is probably the best way for a person to inform themselves.
As far as whether nutrition is adequate or not this is what I think may be happening--->http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showth...#post242688471
Understand that a "good diet" doesn't have to contain only the most nutritious foods. A good diet only has to be sufficient enough to avoid deficiency.Last edited by Phosphate bond; 11-07-2008 at 11:53 PM.

fyi brown rice is not better for u then white rice and the gi's are virtually the same. tbh most "pros" eat white rice instead of brown rice.

I used to have brown rice for years, but then i made the switch after my mate told me about basmati rice. I've been eating that ever since and i feel so much better both in the gym and in general with my energy. I'd always struggled in the past with maintaining energy throughout the day, so this had helped me a great deal.
Give that a go if you like. But white rice itself isn't too bad. Find what works for you. We're all different when it comes to dietary needs
