Hardcore cardio, preventing bulking up (cyclist)

When I was weight training I noticed once I started my cycling training I could not bulk up, my musles were looking more lean (smaller in size)

I was doing cycling training (road or cross country mtb) like 8 hours of cycling a week and I could not build much muscle mass.

I was on a weight gainer, protien, creatine, superpump, multi

I am a ectomorph (high matabolism), I thought I was eating enough whenever i was hungry i ate

anyone know why I could not bulk up?

not enough food. its good to take all them supplements but to bulk you really need to be eating more calories than you are expending. because you are cycling soo much all your energy is being used to cylce and not bulk. what is your diet like?

If you have a naturally high metabolism and you are doing a high volume of training you will struggle to gain weight. You may have to chose one goal to pursue at a time.

Its not just about eating when you are hungry, its about eating until you feel sick every 2-3 hours. Its not because you can't put on fat, its because you aren't eating enough.

clearly uve never gone down that road.

back when i was about 210 i was struggling to gain weight because of the activity i was involved in. swimming, vball, track, coaching, lifting, ddr (lol) and literally ate every 2 hrs and it got to the point food started tasting like cardboard. usually had to put down 6k calories just to maintain and even then i would sometimes lose a pound.

although i got the all-you-eat wing place pissed at me after downing 75wings for 10 bucks. =)
