Are there any recommendations as to which style is prefered by judges? Plain colors? Shorter style?

This is copy from the NPC rules "Contestants will be asked to walk in board shorts (shorts must be just above the knee in length and can be one inch below the belly button, no spandex and no logos are permitted on the board shorts however a manufacturer’s logo such as Nike symbol or Billabongs are acceptable.)"

As far as color you dont want anything that stands out to much. This will cause the judges to look at your shorts and not you. Try diffrent colors and styles and find what works for you. I always ask for girls oppinon but dont let it be to flashy.

I agree to try on a bunch of them and when you finally find a pair that meets the above stated guidelines and your reaction is ... "I'd do me" ... then buy em and be done with it.

NOTE: Cut any tags out that could stick out while you're on stage. Don't put them on before you need to because you can easily get tanner on them. With that in mind be VERY careful when you do put them on so that you don't get a smudge on them.

I saw a subdued blue color and one that was a burnt orange/rust that were effn sweet.

From a female perspective, I like the bright colors...blues, aquas, even pink. But, honestly, from the few shows I've been to, the shorts are not gonna make or break ya...they are judging your physique. I've seen winners in bright colored shorts, navy shorts, solid shorts, plaid shorts, and striped shorts. So, stay within the guidelines and pick the shorts that you feel good in. Good luck, dude!

Solid colors are preferred and not too baggy...keep the botton right at the knee or just above.

Are there certain brands you'd prefer or what do yall use yourselves? I have some board shorts that I believe will work but would like to see what brands everyone else prefers.

Make sure they will ride low on your hips to show your obliques. They need to be tight enough and thin enough to show your glutes decent too.

Guy i saw at Kentucky Muscle just recently had a black & grey pair. Looked sick, not too flashy but looked good.
