Murder of Junko Furuta

Junko Furuta was a 16 year old school girl in Japan who was kidnapped by four boys. Over a period of 44-45 days she was beaten, raped, and tortured before she was killed. After her death they placed her body in a 55-gallon drum filled with cement and dumped it in a random location. Since all four boys involved in the murder were juviniles they served at most 8 years in prison except for the leader who got 20 years and almost all are currently free. Except for the sub-leader of the group who served 8 years but then subsequently wound up back in prison after he assulted a man.

  Kidnapped, kept captive in house, and posed as one of boy’s girlfriend, raped (over 400 times in total), forced to call her parents and tell them she had run away, starved and malnutritioned, fed cockroaches to eat and urine to drink, forced to masturbate, Forced to strip in front of others, burned with cigarette lighters, and foreign objects inserted into her vagina/anus

  Severely beaten countless times, had her face held against concrete ground and jumped on, hands tied to ceiling and body used as a punching bag, nose filled with so much blood that she can only breath through her mouth, dumbbells dropped onto her stomach, vomited when tried to drink water (her stomach couldn’t accept it), tried to escape and punished by cigarette burning on arms, flammable liquid poured on her feet and legs, then lit on fire, Bottle inserted into her anus, causing injury

They put a candle’s flame to her face and eyes. Then, lighter fluid was poured onto her legs, arms, face and stomach, and then lit on fire. This final torture lasted for a time of two hours.

Gilles de Rais



Gilles de Montmorency-Laval, baron de Rais (1404–1440) was a Breton knight, a leader in the French army and a companion-in-arms of Joan of Arc. He is best known as a prolific serial killer of children. There is significant controversy over his guilt; some maintain he was framed for political reasons.

A member of the House of Montmorency-Laval, Gilles de Rais grew up under the tutelage of his maternal grandfather and increased his fortune by marriage. Following the War of the Breton Succession, he earned the favour of the Duke and was admitted to the French court. From 1427 to 1435, Gilles served as a commander in the Royal Army, and fought alongside Joan of Arc against the English and their Burgundian allies during the Hundred Years' War, for which he was appointed Marshal of France.

In 1434/5, he retired from military life, depleted his wealth by staging an extravagant theatrical spectacle of his own composition and dabbled in the occult. After 1432 Gilles engaged in a series of child murders, his victims possibly numbering in the hundreds. The killings came to an end in 1440 when a violent dispute with a clergyman led to an ecclesiastical investigation which brought Gilles' crimes to light. At his trial the parents of missing children in the surrounding area and Gilles' own confederates in crime testified against him. Gilles was condemned to death and hanged at Nantes on 26 October 1440.

Gilles de Rais has had some cultural impact and is one among several candidates believed to be the inspiration for the 1697 fairy tale Bluebeard by Charles Perrault. His life is the subject of several modern novels, and referenced in a number of rock bands' albums and songs.

Occult involvement and murders

It was during this period that, according to trial testimony given by Rais and his accomplices, he began to experiment with the occult under the direction of a man named Francesco Prelati, who promised that Gilles could help him regain his squandered fortune by sacrificing children to a demon called "Baron".[citation needed] However, this story may have been encouraged at the trial as an attempt to find an explanation for the crimes he committed.[citation needed]

In his confession Gilles maintained the first assaults on children occurred between spring 1432 and spring 1433.[25] The first murders occurred at Champtocé-sur-Loire; however, no account of these murders survives.[26] Shortly after, Gilles moved to Machecoul where, as the record of his confession states, he killed, or ordered to be killed, a great but uncertain number of children after he committed sodomy upon them.[26] Forty bodies were discovered in Machecoul in 1437.[26]

The first documented case of child-snatching and murder concerns a boy of about twelve years old called Jeudon, an apprentice to the furrier Guillaume Hilairet.[27] Gilles de Rais' cousins, Gilles de Sillé and Roger de Briqueville, asked the furrier to lend them the boy to take a message to Machecoul, and, when Jeudon did not return, the two noblemen told the inquiring furrier that they were ignorant of the boy's whereabouts and suggested he had been carried off by thieves at Tiffauges to be made into a page.[27] In Gilles de Rais' trial, the events were testified to by Hillairet and his wife, Jean Jeudon and his wife, and five others from Machecoul. There is no evidence linking Gilles de Rais to this kidnapping, but he was charged with the boy’s death.[citation needed]

In his 1971 biography of Gilles de Rais, Jean Benedetti tells how the children who fell into Rais's hands were put to death:

"[The boy] was pampered and dressed in better clothes than he had ever known. The evening began with a large meal and heavy drinking, particularly hippocras, which acted as a stimulant. The boy was then taken to an upper room to which only Gilles and his immediate circle were admitted. There he was confronted with the true nature of his situation. The shock thus produced on the boy was an initial source of pleasure for Gilles."[27]

Gilles' bodyservant Étienne Corrillaut, known as Poitou, was an accomplice in many of the crimes and testified that his master hung his victims with ropes from a hook to prevent the child from crying out, then masturbated upon the child's belly or thighs. Taking the victim down, Rais comforted the child and assured him he only wanted to play with him. Gilles then either killed the child himself or had the child slain by his cousin Gilles de Sillé, Poitou or another bodyservant called Henriet.[28] The victims were killed by decapitation, cutting of their throats, dismemberment, or breaking of their necks with a stick. A short, thick, double-edged sword called a braquemard was kept at hand for the murders.[28] Poitou further testified that Rais sometimes committed his vices on the victims (whether boys or girls) before wounding them and at other times after the victim had been slashed in the throat or decapitated. According to Poitou, Rais disdained the victim's sexual organs, and took "infinitely more pleasure in debauching himself in this manner...than in using their natural orifice, in the normal manner."[28]

In his own confession, Gilles testified that “when the said children were dead, he kissed them and those who had the most handsome limbs and heads he held up to admire them, and had their bodies cruelly cut open and took delight at the sight of their inner organs; and very often when the children were dying he sat on their stomachs and took pleasure in seeing them die and laughed...”[29]

Poitou testified that he and Henriet burned the bodies in the fireplace in Gilles' room. The clothes of the victim were placed into the fire piece by piece so they burned slowly and the smell was minimized. The ashes were then thrown into the cesspit, the moat, or other hiding places.[29] The last recorded murder was of the son of Éonnet de Villeblanche and his wife Macée. Poitou paid twenty sous to have a page's doublet made for the victim, who was then assaulted, murdered, and incinerated in August 1440.[30]

Outlaw Career: After a short career as a horse thief's apprentice in Arizona, the Kid left the territory when he was wanted for murder when he shot and killed a man named Windy Cahill, who was teasing and abusing the boy. The Kid returned to New Mexico and joined up with a gang of rustlers and gunfighters called The Boys, who were involved in the Lincoln County War fighting for the James Dolan side. The Kid ended up leaving the gang to join up with their opposition, John Tunstall. After the death of Tunstall, the violence erupted. The Kid and other Tunstall supporters formed the "Regulators" that consisted of deputized gunmen. The war ended at Tunstall's partner Alex McSween's home, and the Kid and a handful of Regulators barely escaped with their lives. The Regulators then disbanded; some left or went into hiding to start new lives, while others stuck around and became outlaws. The Kid was one of those that became outlaws. On the run from his enemies and the law, the Kid made a living by stealing horses and cattle, until his arrest in December of 1880. In April of 1881, after being convicted and sentence to death for taking part in the killing of Sheriff Brady during the Lincoln County War, the Kid broke out of jail by killing his two guards and escaped. The Kid was then hunted down by Pat Garrett and shot in the dark at the home of Pete Maxwell. Billy the Kid (about 19-20 years old) died July 14, 1881 in Fort Sumner, NM.

Joachim Kroll

Joachim Kroll was a German serial killer and cannibal who was convicted of 8 murders but overall confessed to a total of 13. His preferred method of killing his victims was through strangulation. He often practiced this on rubber sex dolls that he also kept around for intercourse. He mostly targeted younger women and would often kill them after raping them. He also would frequently cut pieces off them to be eaten later which he claimed he did to save on his grocery bill. He was arrested after kidnapping and butchering a 4 year old girl and confessing when police caught him cooking the girl in a stew. He was given 9 life sentences and died of a heart attack in prison on July 1st, 1991 at the age of 58.

• February 8, 1955 - Irmgard Strehl - Age 19
  Irmgrad was a runaway that Kroll met walking along a road. He convinced her to walk with him into the woods by promising her something. Once there he tried to kiss her and after she was struggled he stabbed her in the neck and raped her.
  
• 1956 - Erika Schuletter - Age 12
  A younger victim that Kroll accosted and raped before killing her.
  
• June 16, 1959 - Klara Frieda Tesmer - Age 24
  He led her to a meadow not far from a river. He tried to grab her but when she pulled away he hit her in the head. She struggled as he attempted to rape her so he choked her to death and raped her corpse.
  
• July 26, 1959 - Manuela Knodt - Age 16
  Strangled and dumped in a park and the first victim he took flesh from. He first killed her, raped her, and then stripped all her clothes off so he could removes pieces of flesh to consume either then or at a later time.
  
• 1962 - Barbara Bruder - Age 12
  A twelve-year-old girl, Barbara Bruder, was on her way to a playground near her home in Burscheid-Klein-Hamberg early in 1962 when Kroll spotted her and quickly sized her up as a viable victim. Although her remains were never located, Kroll admitted to sexually assaulting and killing her after dragging her into a field where no one could see.
  
• April 23, 1962 - Petra Giese - Age 13
  On the day after Easter, Kroll strangled Giese with her own scarf, removing large hunks of flesh from her buttocks, along with her left forearm and hand. Another suspect served six years for this crime
  
• June 4, 1962 - Monika Tafel - Age 12
  With Tafel, who was killed on June 4, Kroll had grabbed her in Walsum as she was walking to school, and after he had finished with her, he removed pieces from her buttocks and thighs.

  Kroll used his knife to flatten a tire to draw Schmitz out. Then he pounced, stabbing Schmitz several times directly in the heart. • September 13, 1966 - Ursula Rohling - Age 20
  Twenty-year-old Ursula Rohling was found in some bushes, strangled. She had been dead for nearly two days, stripped from the waist down and provocatively posed.
  
• December 22, 1966 - Ilona Harke - Age 5
  An autopsy showed that she had been raped and drowned. About this murder, Kroll said that he'd encountered the child in Essen and decided to use her to satisfy his curiosity about what it would be like to drown someone.
  
• July 12, 1969 - Maria Hettgen - Age 61
  Kroll later reported that he'd experienced a "tickling feeling all over" when he stopped to talk with her. She didn't want to talk to him as he recalled so he hit her. When she went down, he dragged her to some bushes to strangle and rape, leaving her there to be found a day later, on July 13.

Kroll was immediately arrested.

The East India Company army of 4,500 troops, along with 12,000 working personnel or camp-followers, left Kabul on 6 January 1842. They attempted to reach the British garrison at Jalalabad, 90 miles (140 km) away, but were immediately harassed by Afghan forces. A report released on 20 March 2003, one day before the American led invasion of Iraq, by ABC news detailed several allegations against Uday:

As head of the Iraqi Olympic Committee, Uday oversaw the imprisonment and torture of Iraqi athletes who were deemed not to have performed to expectations. According to widespread reports, torturers beat and caned the soles of the football players' feet—inflicting intense pain without leaving visible marks on the rest of their bodies. Uday reportedly kept scorecards with written instructions on how many times each player should be beaten after a poor showing. He would insult athletes who performed below his expectations by calling them dogs and monkeys—major insults in the Arab world—to their faces. One defector reported that jailed football players were forced to kick a concrete ball after failing to reach the 1994 FIFA World Cup finals. Iraqi National Football team were seen with their heads shaved after failing to achieve a good result in a tournament in 1980s. It was widely circulated that Uday ordered the shaving as part of the punishment. Another defector claimed that athletes were dragged through a gravel pit and subsequently immersed in a sewage tank to induce infection in the victims' wounds. After Iraq lost, 4–1, to Japan in the quarter finals of the 2000 AFC Asian Cup in Lebanon, goalkeeper Hashim Hassan, defender Abdul Jaber and forward Qahtan Chatir were labelled as guilty of loss and eventually flogged for three days by Uday's security.

Other allegations include:

Allegedly kidnapping young Iraqi women from the streets in order to rape them. Uday was known to intrude on parties and otherwise "discover" women whom he would later rape. Time published an article in 2003 detailing his sexual brutality. In one such instance, he accosted a young woman who was walking with her husband, where Uday said her husband was a nobody, despite him wearing a uniform showing him to be a captain in the Iraqi Army. Uday then ordered his men to grab the girl, to which her husband struck Uday in defense of his wife, and was apprehended by Uday's bodyguards. The wife was raped and later murdered, and the husband was sentenced to death for "high treason against Saddam".

When U.S. troops captured his mansion in Baghdad, they found a personal zoo stocked with lions and cheetahs; an underground parking garage for his collection of luxury cars; paintings glorifying him and his mother with Saddam (which was known to have infuriated his father); Cuban cigars inscribed with his name; and millions of dollars worth of fine wines, liquor and heroin. An HIV testing kit was also found among his personal effects. He amassed hundreds of millions of US dollars by running facade corporations illegally trading with Iran (although, at that time, UN restrictions did not allow foreign trading. Only later, Iraq was allowed to import certain commodities such as food and medical supplies legally under the UN Oil-For-Food programme).

Allegedly Uday beat an army officer unconscious when the man refused to allow Uday to dance with his wife; the man later died of his injuries. Uday also shot and killed an army officer who did not salute him.

Uday purchased or stole approximately 1,200 luxury vehicles, including a Rolls-Royce Corniche valued at over $200,000 which he had torched before the invasion. A Lamborghini LM002, given to him as a gift by Libyan Leader Muammar al-Gaddafi was later blown up by US forces to demonstrate the effects of a car bomb.

Charles McArthur Ghankay Taylor (born 28 January 1948) was the 22nd President of Liberia, until his resignation on 11 August 2003.

Brief Look

During his term of office, Taylor was accused of war crimes and crimes against humanity as a result of his involvement in the Sierra Leone Civil War. Domestically, opposition to his regime grew, culminating in the outbreak of the Second Liberian Civil War in 1999. By 2003, he had lost control of much of the countryside and was formally indicted by the Special Court for Sierra Leone.

That year, he resigned as a result of growing international pressure and went into exile in Nigeria. In 2006, the newly elected President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf formally requested his extradition. Upon his arrival in Monrovia, he was transferred to the custody of the United Nations Mission in Liberia and immediately flown to Sierra Leone.

He is currently being held in the United Nations Detention Unit on the premises of the Penitentiary Institution Haaglanden in The Hague, where he is on trial before the Special Court for Sierra Leone for his role in the civil war.

Early Life and Crimes

- Charles McArthur Taylor was born in Arthington, a town near Monrovia, on 28 January 1948 to Nelson and Bernice Taylor.

- Taylor was a student at Bentley College in Waltham, Massachusetts, from 1972 to 1977, earning a degree in economics.

- In 1979, he led a demonstration in NYC protesting then-president of Liberia William Tolbert, who was on a state visit to the U.S. at the time. Tolbert publicly debated Taylor, but when Taylor insinuated that he would seize the Liberian Mission by force, he was arrested by the New York Police Department. He was later released and invited back to Liberia by Tolbert. ... Yeah this guy will never be a threat?!

- Taylor supported the coup, which saw the murder of Tolbert and seizure of power by a guy named Doe. Taylor was appointed to a high position in Doe’s government and was sacked in May 1983 for embezzling almost $1,000,000 and sending the funds to an American bank account.

- Taylor fled to the United States (why the fuk do we want you?) but was arrested on 24 May 1984 by two US Deputy Marshals for embezzling $922,000 of government funds intended for machinery parts.

- On 15 September 1985, Taylor and four other inmates allegedly escaped from the Plymouth facility, a maximum security prison, by sawing through a bar covering a window in an unused laundry room. After dropping 12 feet to the ground by means of a knotted sheet, the five inmates climbed a fence. A getaway car was driven to Staten Island, where Taylor then disappeared. All four of Taylor's fellow escapees, as well as Enif and Toweh, were later apprehended.

- He has recently said that his escape from the penitentiary in Boston was facilitated by the US government. IntelNews.org identifies D'Onofrio Ruggiero, a 40 year CIA agent, as a close ally of Charles Taylor. His smuggling network and money laundering activities provided Taylor with outlets for selling stolen diamonds and buying illegal arms.

Civil War

- Taylor managed to flee the United States and shortly thereafter it is assumed that he went to Libya, where he underwent guerrilla training under Muammar al-Gaddafi, becoming Gaddafi's protégé.

- In December 1989, Taylor launched a Libyan-funded armed uprising from Côte d'Ivoire into Liberia to overthrow the Doe regime, leading to the First Liberian Civil War. By 1990, his forces soon controlled most of the country.

- The civil war turned into an ethnic conflict, with seven factions fighting for control of Liberia's resources (especially iron ore, diamonds, timber, and rubber).

According to a 2 June 1999, article in The Virginian-Pilot,[8] Taylor had extensive business dealings with American televangelist Pat Robertson during the civil war. According to the article, Taylor gave Robertson the rights to mine for diamonds in Liberia's mineral-rich countryside. According to two Operation Blessing pilots who reported this incident to the Commonwealth of Virginia for investigation in 1994, Robertson used his Operation Blessing planes to haul diamond-mining equipment to his new mines in Liberia, despite the fact that Robertson was telling his 700 Club viewers that the planes were sending relief supplies to the victims of the genocide in Rwanda. The subsequent investigation by the Commonwealth of Virginia concluded that Robertson diverted his ministry's donations to the Liberian diamond-mining operation, but Attorney General of Virginia Mark Earley blocked any potential prosecution against Robertson, as the relief supplies were also sent.

Presidency

After the official end of the civil war in 1996, Taylor ran for president in the 1997 general election. He famously campaigned on the slogan "He killed my ma, he killed my pa, but I will vote for him." Taylor won the election in a landslide, garnering 75 percent of the vote. Taylor's victory has been widely attributed to the belief that he would resume the war if he lost. A whole lot of WTF

- Taylor obtained spiritual and other advice from the evangelist Kilari Anand Paul. As president, he was known for his flamboyant style and overtly quasi-religious hypocrisy.

- Upon being charged by the UN of being a gunrunner and diamond smuggler during his presidency, he publicly appeared in all white robes and begged God for forgiveness, while at the same time denying the charges. He was also reported to have said that “Jesus Christ was accused of being a murderer in his time."

Rebellion Against Charles Taylor

- In 1999, a rebellion against Taylor began in northern Liberia, led by a group calling itself Liberians United for Reconciliation and Democracy.

- This uprising signaled the beginning of the Second Liberian Civil War.

- By the summer, Taylor's government controlled only about a third of Liberia: Monrovia and the central part of the country. Strong short-lived Alphaness

- Earlier that year, Liberian forces had killed Sam Bockarie, a leading member of the RUF in Sierra Leone, in a shootout under Taylor's orders. Some have claimed that Taylor ordered Bockarie killed in order to prevent Bockarie from testifying against him at the SCSL. Read as: Charles Taylor is mad.

- In June 2003, the Prosecutor to the Special Court unsealed the indictment and announced publicly that Taylor was charged with war crimes.

- The indictment asserted, among other things, that Taylor had the use of child soldiers.

- The Prosecutor also said that Taylor's administration had harbored members of Al-Qaeda sought in connection with the 1998 bombings of U.S. embassies in Kenya and Tanzania.

Resignation

- In July 2003, LURD (rebellion group against Taylor) initiated a siege of Monrovia, and several bloody battles were fought as Taylor's forces halted rebel attempts to capture the city.

- The pressure on Taylor increased further as U.S. President George W. Bush stated that Taylor "must leave Liberia" twice that month.

- Taylor insisted that he would resign only if American peacekeeping troops were deployed to Liberia. Bush publicly called upon Taylor to resign and leave the country in order for any American involvement to be considered.

- On 10 August, Taylor appeared on national television to announce that he would resign the following day and hand power to Vice President Blah. Hahahahah

- He harshly criticized the United States in his farewell address, saying that the Bush administration's insistence that he leave the country would hurt Liberia.

- On 11 August, Taylor resigned, with Blah serving as president until a transitional government was established on 14 October.

Exile

In November 2003, the United States Congress passed a bill that included a reward offer of two million dollars for Taylor's capture. While the peace agreement had guaranteed Taylor safe exile in Nigeria, it also required that he not attempt to influence Liberian politics, a requirement that his critics claimed he disregarded. On 4 December, Interpol issued a red notice regarding Taylor, suggesting that countries had a duty to arrest him. Taylor was placed on Interpol's Most Wanted list, declaring him wanted for crimes against humanity and breaches of the 1949 Geneva Convention, and noting that he should be considered dangerous. Nigeria stated it would not submit to Interpol's demands, agreeing only to deliver Taylor to Liberia in the event that the President of Liberia requested his return.

On 29 March, Taylor tried to cross the border into Cameroon through the border town of Gamboru in northeastern Nigeria. His Range Rover with Nigerian diplomatic plates was stopped by border guards, and Taylor's identity was eventually established. State Department staff later reported that significant amounts of cash and heroin were found in the vehicle.

Upon his arrival at Roberts International Airport in Harbel, Liberia, Taylor was arrested and handcuffed by LNP officers, who then immediately transferred custody of Taylor to the United Nations Mission in Liberia (UNMIL). Irish UNMIL soldiers then escorted Taylor aboard a UN helicopter to Freetown, Sierra Leone, where he was delivered to the SCSL.

David Berkowitz

Early Life

Berkowitz was born Richard David Falco on June 1, 1953 in Brooklyn, New York. His mother, Betty Broder, was married to Anthony Falco, with whom she had a daughter before the couple separated without legally divorcing. After this, she had an affair with the married Joseph Kleinman, who fathered a son. Kleinman suggested she have an abortion, but she gave birth to a boy and listed Falco as the father.

Before he was a week old, the baby was adopted by hardware store owners Pearl and Nathan Jay Berkowitz, who reversed the order of his first and middle names in addition to giving him their own surname.

Berkowitz's childhood was somewhat troubled. Although of above-average intelligence, he lost interest in learning at an early age and began an infatuation with petty larceny and pyromania. Berkowitz's adoptive mother died of breast cancer when he was thirteen, and his home life became strained in later years, particularly because he disliked his adoptive father's second wife. He later claimed his new step-sister was interested in witchcraft, sparking an interest in the occult he would later pursue more actively.

In 1974 Berkowitz located his birth mother, Betty Falco. After a few visits, she disclosed the details of his illegitimate conception and birth, which greatly disturbed him. They fell out of contact, but Berkowitz did stay in touch with his half-sister, Roslyn.

Berkowitz claims that he joined a cult in the spring of 1975. Initially, he said, the group was involved in harmless activities, such as séances and fortune telling. Later, Berkowitz claimed that the group introduced him to drug use, sadistic pornography, and violent crime.

Columnist Jimmy Breslin later denied Berkowitz's claims of Satanic cult involvement, stating “When they talked to David Berkowitz that night, he recalled everything step by step by step, the guy has 1000 percent recall and that's it. He's the guy and there's nothing else to look at.” A former FBI profiler who spent hours interviewing Berkowitz stated he was convinced Berkowitz acted alone, was an "introverted loner, not capable of being involved in group activity." A psychiatrist with the NYPD stated that he believes that Berkowitz's satanic cult claims were nothing but a fantasy concocted by Berkowitz to absolve himself of the crimes. Under oath, Berkowitz never made any mention of his affiliation with any satanic cult.

Amelia Elizabeth Dyer née Hobley (1838 – June 10, 1896) was the most prolific baby farm murderer of Victorian England. She was tried and hanged for one murder, but there is little doubt she was responsible for many more similar deaths—possibly 400 or more—over a period of perhaps twenty years.

However, Amelia didn't have the typical hard childhood that you would expect a serial killer to have. Amelia was born in a small village near Bristol in 1838. She was the daughter of a master shoemaker and grew up learning to read and write very early.
- She soon developed a serious love for literature and poetry.
- When she grew up she trained as a nurse. At the time this was a very hard, but respectable job.
- From a colleague, Amelia learned of a much easier way to make a living.
- She began renting out rooms in her home to young, pregnant females who were pregnant out of wedlock and disowned by their families. During this time period, being pregnant out of wedlock was unforgivable and brought on a shun from loved ones and friends. Amelia would let the mothers stay in her home and help them with their pregnancy. After the babies were born, the mothers would leave Amelia's home and sometimes even leave their babies there with Amelia (Rennell, 2007).

Beginning of the Murders

In November of 1985, a single mother by the name of Evelina Marmon put an ad in the paper looking for someone to look after her newborn baby girl. When she was looking at her ad in the paper, she noticed an ad right beside hers from a married couple who were looking to adopt a baby and even offered money. The ad was placed by a Mrs. Harding from Oxford Road. Evelina contacted Mrs. Harding and asked if she would be interested in watching her baby. Mrs Harding happily agreed saying that she would be so pleased to have Evelina's baby in her home. A week later Evelina dropped off her baby at Mrs. Harding's and never saw her again. Little did she know, that "Mrs. Harding" was just a disguise that Amelia was using to lure in children ("Amelia Dyer," 2011). See Above.

Murders Continued

At some point in her baby farming career, Amelia was prepared to forego the expense and inconvenience of letting the children die through neglect and starvation; soon after the receipt of each child, she murdered them, thus allowing her to pocket most or all of the entire fee.

For some time, Dyer eluded the resulting interest of police, and the inspectors of the newly-formed NSPCC.
- She was eventually caught in 1879 after a doctor was suspicious about the number of child deaths he had been called to certify in Dyer's care.
- However, instead of being convicted of murder or manslaughter, she was sentenced to six months' hard labour for neglect.
- The experience allegedly almost destroyed her mentally.
- Dyer at one point drank two bottles of laudanum in a serious suicide attempt, but her long-term abuse had built up her tolerance to opium products, so she survived.

Inevitably, she returned to baby farming, and murder. Dyer realized the folly of involving doctors to issue death certificates and began disposing of the bodies herself. The precarious nature and extent of her activities again prompted undesirable attention; she was alert to the attentions of police—and of parents seeking to reclaim their children. She and her family frequently relocated to different towns and cities to escape suspicion, regain anonymity—and to acquire new business. Over the years, Dyer used a succession of aliases.

Case Study - Murder of Doris Marmon and Harry Simmons



"Mrs Harding" wrote that "I should be glad to have a dear little baby girl, one I could bring up and call my own." She continued: "We are plain, homely people, in fairly good circumstances. I don't want a child for money's sake, but for company and home comfort. ... Myself and my husband are dearly fond of children. I have no child of my own. A child with me will have a good home and a mother's love".

There, with the baby, Dyer quickly found some white edging tape used in dressmaking, wound it twice around the baby's neck and tied a knot. Death would not have been immediate. (Amelia later said "I used to like to watch them with the tape around their neck, but it was soon all over with them")

Dyer also took "care" of a baby named Harry Simmons during that time.

On April 2, both bodies were stacked into a carpet bag, along with bricks for added weight. Dyer then headed for Reading. At a secluded spot she knew well near a weir at Caversham Lock, she forced the carpet bag through railings into the River Thames.

Discovery of Corpses

On April 3 (Good Friday), police raided her home. They were apparently struck by the stench of human decomposition, although no human remains were found. There was however, plenty of other related evidence, including white edging tape, ********s regarding adoption arrangements, pawn tickets for children's clothing, receipts for advertisements and letters from mothers inquiring about the well-being of their children.

The police calculated that in the previous few months alone, at least twenty children had been placed in the care of a "Mrs. Thomas", now revealed to be Amelia Dyer. It also appeared that she was about to move home again, this time to Somerset. This rate of murder has led to some estimates that Mrs Dyer may, over the course of decades, have killed over 400 babies and children, making her one of the most prolific murderers ever, as well as the most prolific murderess ever.

Amelia Dyer was arrested on April 4 and charged with murder. Her son-in-law Arthur Palmer was charged as an accessory. During April, the Thames was dragged and six more bodies were discovered, including Doris Marmon and Harry Simmons—Dyer's last victims.

Each baby had been strangled with white tape, which as she later told the police "was how you could tell it was one of mine". Eleven days after handing her daughter to Dyer, Evelina Marmon, whose name had emerged in items kept by Dyer, identified her daughter's remains.

Trial

In Reading gaol she wrote (with her own spelling and punctuation preserved):

Sir will you kindly grant me the favour of presenting this to the magistrates on Saturday the 18th instant I have made this statement out, for I may not have the opportunity then I must relieve my mind I do know and I feel my days are numbered on this earth but I do feel it is an awful thing drawing innocent people into trouble I do know I shal have to answer before my Maker in Heaven for the awful crimes I have committed but as God Almighty is my judge in Heaven a on Hearth neither my daughter Mary Ann Palmer nor her husband Alfred Ernest Palmer I do most solemnly declare neither of them had any thing at all to do with it, they never knew I contemplated doing such a wicked thing until it was to late I am speaking the truth and nothing but the truth as I hope to be forgiven, I myself and I alone must stand before my Maker in Heaven to give a answer for it all witnes my hand Amelia Dyer.

The only defence Dyer offered was insanity: she had been twice committed to asylums in Bristol. However, the prosecution argued successfully that her exhibitions of mental instability had been a ploy to avoid suspicion; both committals were said to have coincided with times when Dyer was concerned her crimes might have been exposed. It took the jury only four and a half minutes to find her guilty.

Apparently Kendall Francois isn't the killer of the Poughkeepsie Tapes (I thought so because I know people who went to the middle school he worked at) and was actually James Foley, the Water Street Butcher, who was later found innocent after receiving the death penalty. So the true Poughkeepsie Tapes Killer has not been found.
Should make for an interesting post I'd say.

General Butt Naked





Joshua Milton Blahyi better known by his nom de guerre General Butt Naked, was originally a tribal priest before becoming a Liberian warlord-turned-preacher. He was a fiercely violent and eccentric leader on the side of Roosevelt Johnson in the First Liberian Civil War in the first half of the 1990s.

At age 11, he claims, he was initiated as a tribal priest and participated in his first human sacrifice

During the course of the three day ritual that followed, Blahyi says that he had a vision in which he was told by the Devil that he would become a great warrior and that he should continue to practice human sacrifice and cannibalism to increase his power

Blahyi has said he led his troops naked except for shoes and a gun. Apparently, he believed that his nakedness was a source of protection from bullets

Blahyi now claims he would regularly sacrifice a victim before battle, saying, "Usually it was a small child, someone whose fresh blood would satisfy the devil."

"Sometimes I would enter under the water where children were playing. I would dive under the water, grab one, carry him under and break his neck. Sometimes I'd cause accidents. Sometimes I'd just slaughter them." In January 2008, Milton-Blahyi confessed to taking part in human sacrifices which "included the killing of an innocent child and plucking out the heart, which was divided into pieces for us to eat.

So, before leading my troops into battle, we would get drunk and drugged up, sacrifice a local teenager, drink their blood, then strip down to our shoes and go into battle wearing colourful wigs and carrying dainty purses we'd looted from civilians. We'd slaughter anyone we saw, chop their heads off and use them as soccer balls. We were nude, fearless, drunk and homicidal. We killed hundreds of people – so many I lost count.

Blahyi also purported that during that period he had "magical powers that made him invisible"
