    Shaving year round

    Guys,

I was noticing at the gym today that alot of the guys were either shaving or body grooming. I've also noticed the same on most of these forums, that must of the guys shave the chest, abs and/or arm pits.

How many of you guys shave (say arm pits and chest/abs) year round in the off season, not just during competition season?

I started shaving my abs and arm pits this AM. Abs was fine. Arm pits too a hack job to get it all. But now, I feel that I look more like a real bodybuilder. Lets hope that it motivates me to push even harder in the gym.
My son thinks I'm a super hero. I'd better start looking like one...

I don't see the point personally.
Food quality does not change the laws of thermodynamics. Provided you consume adequate protein, EFAs, fiber, and vitamins and minerals you can eat whatever you want.

The only difference between a 'clean' and a 'dirty' food is how much of it you eat.

The Glycemic Index is meaningless unless you eat carbs alone in a fasted state. As soon as you add fat, protein, or fiber to a meal or have eaten in the previous 4-6 hours the GI is irrelevant.

I am a bigger fan of Veet actually, I just use Nair's name because it is more well known. I've found that if you apply it pretty generously and then hop in the shower, you are able to just wipe the hair away pretty easily. I prefer it to shaving because there is never any razor burn, and it is less risky to de-hair hard to shave areas like armpits/groin. The worst part is having to stand around naked and awkward for 10-15 minutes waiting to get in the shower... but I began using the time to clean my bathroom. Very effective use of time if you ask me. Some people complain of skin irritation, which I do not experience, but if that is the case then shaving is definitely a better option.

I personally can't stand hair on my body. It makes me feel dirty, like something that I can't wash off. I shave usually every other day.

Patience, first time will take some hacking. After that as long as you keep it up it's easy.

    Story time:

First time I shaved my legs I was 22 in Daytona Beach FL for spring break. Went with 8 dudes and they all pitched in and bought me this Pink Man thong to wear on the beach. So I did.... but of course I had to shave. So I shaved every hair on my body that day taking about 2 hours in one swoop. Got drunk and played catch on the beach in a pink thong lol.

I shave year round, as long as you keep up on it (shave every saturday leg wise and every 2 days chest and arms with an electric) it's easy.

I'm also not very hairy luckily.

I agree. Since I started shaving last week, I'm finding that it only take a few mins each morning in the shower to do a quick all over shave. Its quick and not a big deal.

I have tried to shave my chest and abs on multiple occasions and I always get bumps around my belt line from irritation. do any of you have any suggestions? I have some of the nair or veet, not sure which, but I haven't tried it yet. I have real fair skin and course hair so I think that is part of the problem. I have 0 problems shaving my chest or arms though, I think it is just the irritation of my pants. just don't want to have hairy abs and a clean chest. that would look kind of funny

some triple blade razors have 3-4 wires that are running perpendicular to the blades over the blades. The wires prevent the blades from shaving flush with the skin, which is the cause for those nasty bumps and ingrown hair. I believe my shick quattro had them. I know Mach 3 does not.

Another thing to try is lather up real well before shaving an area. This should also create a thin layer on your skin to prevent the blade from shaving flush with the skin, if you can't find a razor such as the one I described.

Hope that helps guys. I had the same problem with ingrown hairs and red bumps. After a while your skin gets much more used to it and you can get away with a lot more.

I can shave my legs dry now, against the grain, with a Mach 3 and I might get a few red bumps a week later. A year ago I would have looked like I had 2 red pickles protruding from my hips.

I agree completely. I shave in the shower. I also use a very thick shaving cream and lather up real well with a good shaving brush. I did get ingrown hairs at first, but they eventually stopped after a few shaves as my skin got used to it.

Can't quite say that I can shave dry yet, but I can definitely clean up a small problem or missed area with a dry razor.

Still old and shave here. Use a Norelco body groomer also. Now I just need to get rid of the stomach so it will all lool better.

Shave it all; once per week; year round. I don't like the hair & it helps me manage progress.

    Hey guys,

I know that this is a funny question to ask, but I figure that this would be the place to get an answer.

I've been a bodybuilder for nearly 10 years now.

Recently, I've noticed that alot of serious bodybuilders seem to shave or trim their armpit hair. I know that alot of bodybuilders shave all of their armpit hair off, such as for competitions. But, I'm talking here about a trim. It looks to me like alot of guys trim it down so that it is shorter and less bushy and/or covers less of the arm pit. Am I imagining things? And if not, how do you trim down your arm pit hair? Mine are quite bushy so I'd like to trim them down so that it doesn't look so bad during the summer.

You can tell I'm not a body builder, but do shave - trim a lot. I bought a Norelco Body Groomer and it works great. Works best on pit hair if it is dry, but works great for wherever you want a trim.

So, you do trim it down shorter instead of shaving it all off?

Has anyone tried laser hair removal as opposed to shaving/creams?....I'm hairy, real f'in hairy and it's hard to get a real good view of any progress without first parting the jungle that grows on my chest and back. I've been thinking about having my upper body lasered, but am concerned how odd it would look without doing the legs. My legs are hairy, but nearly as bad as above, and the hair itself is much lighter and thinner...up top it's black, thick, coarse.....

It wont look stupid, only thing hairy on me (no homo) is my butt and legs, everything is like peach fuzz. lazer hair removal took my dad 6 times to finish his face, bout 200 zaps each time, said it felt like a rubber band hitting hard as possible each time, so I couldnt imagine the entire upper body, Lol.

Typical keep chest and pits shaved most of the year. Let the pits grow a little then trim. Trim pube area and shave the other things.

Yah, I've been trimming the pits too. I used to shave them completely. However, since I don't look like a bodybuilder yet, I was finding that I felt a bit stupid in the gym with my pits shaved. So, I started trimming them down so that they look less bushy. I've noticed that alot of other bodybuilders also trim their pits.

Anyone else here trim their pits?
