Awesome leg day, CC Have fun wrapping tonight! When my kids were little I was so bad about waiting until Christmas Eve to do all of the wrapping ... only to have them quickly tear the paper off the gifts a few hours later

Hey CC! I somehow managed to unsubscribe to your journal. I am just that brilliant.
Do you ever have issues with grip when you're doing flys? I constantly feel like I am going to drop the DBs. It makes me sad.
I've never tried BO rows with DBs. I've always used a BB. Hm...
Jan 3 is so soon! Are you excited? Nervous?
I love Arnold's. I don't know why I love them - I find them so hard! They're just so... satisfying!
What kind of cookies did you make?
Yay for squats in the rack!!
Good job getting your wrapping done! Mine is done, too - but on our limited budget, we didn't have much to wrap this year... That, and some things had to be sent away, so I figured wrapping them and then mailing them was a bad idea - post office people would probably open it all up to check for stuff, anyway!
IT'S FRIDAY!! Hope you're having a WONDERFUL day!My Journal - Large, But Not in Charge: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=128025573

Thanks Swooshie - I hate wrapping and yes, it does get torn off so quickly!
Thanks jjeane!
Wishing you and your family a wonderful Christmas.
I don't have issues w/ flys and grip - DL is where my grip fails me.
I hate doing the BO rows w/ the DB
Excited and nervous all at the same time re: Jan 3rd (which has now been moved up to Dec 29)

Okay gang - I just logged my last workout of my 30s!!!!!!!
I need to contact the mods to get my journal name changed - can someone tell me how to do that?
I wanted to do one more workout (today is supposed to be a rest day) that wouldn't interfere with my planned workout for tomorrow (Back/Chest) so I did a modified leg day. My legs (quads and hams specifically are still a bit sore from Thursday's workout).
Gym was quite busy - I guess most people were done their shopping or they are going to go out tomorrow! We are all done (for a few days now) but I have to still wrap the kids Santa gifts and stockings. We are going out to dinner tonight for Red Lobster for my b-day. I am going to pretty much eat whatever I want as I know starting next week, I won't be doing that
I am looking forward to starting w/ the detailed prep. I am getting a bit mentally tired of having to think a lot about my workouts and eating - I am looking forward to someone telling me what to eat, when and what to lift, when. Based on my adherance to running coach programs and nutrition programs, I am a good, compliant fitness student
Okay, here are the dets of the workout:
Leg Press
4x10@180
SLDL (can't wait for my hooks!)
10@115, 8@135, 10@115
Hamstring curls (lying)
8@90, 8@85, 6@85 - obviously still tired from Thursday
Calf Raises
20@200, 15@200, 15@200
Cybex Glute machine
15@90, 15@90, 15@90
Single Leg Extensions
3x10@30
DB Plie Squats (ATG)
3x10@50
Have a wonderful holiday season everyone! I am hoping to pop in tomorrow to post my workout, but don't know if I"ll get to everyone's journals - wishing everyone the happiest of Christmases and fun times with family and friends.

Just a quick update - crazy day at work - hit the gym tonight before heading home (hubs is working from home between the holidays)

Okay - getting a bit nervous about meeting w/ the pro tomorrow. I don't know why as I met her in the summer (and several times since) - maybe it is just the reality of it. Right after meeting w/ her we'll be heading off for an overnight visit to friends so I won't be able to update my log with the 'happenings' of my meeting until sometime on Sunday.
Hit the gym this morning for Shoulders & traps and just did 30min @ 10%, 4mph on the TM at the work gym. Another crazy day as I vett data - I hate this kind of work as it requires sitting for hours on end - not fun at all
DB OH Press

Thanks jjeane - it went super well - will write about it in a moment. Work has calmed down - I am only in for a half day today so that is nice.
Hi Luvdogs - I picked up the name jammers from you tube when I finally found someone demonstrating an exercise I do quite regularly so it might not be the 'official' name but here is how it is done: You use an oly bar wedged in a block / against the wall and weight it. To start, you stand at the end of the oly bar and pick it up, craddling it in the palms of your hands just about chest height (so, looking from the side, there would be a right angle triangle with you and the floor making the right angle, the oly bar making the third side of the triangle.). Then, you push it up and almost away from your body - it works the chest / front delts. I like to do it it lieu of front raises / upright rows which tend to aggravate my shoulders. I have seen people doing it quite dynamically (i.e. using their legs to assist in the push) but I do it with a still body and really focus on chest / shoulder. I have also seem people doing them with one hand but I use both hands.
Thanks Swooshie - you make 55 look absolutely spectacular - unless you told us your age, we would have never known!
Thanks DM!

Okey Dokey - where to begin, where to begin!
I met w/ my pro on Saturday - as mentioned in one of my last posts, I was very nervous - I think the reality of it had set in. I was also worried b/c she hadn't seen me in my bathing suit since July 19th. So off I went - hubs and the kids dropped me off (we were heading directly out of town right after) and I scooted into the studio.
Let me just say she is awesome - I am in awe of her. Needless to say, her figure is just spectacular - even in a loose shirt and track pants, she just exudes strength and poise. (If you want to see what she looks like, shoot me a PM and I'll tell you her name and you can google her - I don't know if she would appreciate me plastering her name on the boards). But, even better than that, she is very down to earth and candid (I am not much into sugar coating - I say what I mean and expect that from others). More on this latter part in a bit.
So, we chatted a bit about Christmas, kids, you know - chit chat. Then she reconfirmed show target date - April 13th. Okay, now strip down to the suit.
Well, I tell you, there is nothing that will compel you to stay on the 'wagon' more than knowing that you have to strip down in front of people - I felt my resolve going through the roof as I stood there and she scribbled in my book (she had the notes she had taken from our July meeting). Turn left, turn right, put your heels together, flex your leg, turn around, go up on your toes (in my mind: OMG - what is she writing - she is writing too much - oh crap, I've really gone off the rails.....)
Then she said the words that made my day - "you have had a great off season - I am really impressed by how much muscle you have put on. Your shoulders are much more developed and your glutes have really, really improved since I saw you in the summer". Holy smacks - she noticed - it wasn't just me deluding myself! I kinda giggled when she said "off season" - I have never had a 'season' so everything to me has been the offseason to date!
Okay - get dressed, sit down. Reviewed my log. Talked next steps: she will have my program ready for Jan 2nd and my diet. Program will change every two weeks. Pictures to be submitted weekly unless I see her.
Other cliff notes from her assessment: not going to have me do any shrugs - traps are getting a bit out of proportion. Need to work on a noticeable size difference in legs. Will likely have me doing sprints to encourage separation in quad muscles. Must work on rear delt still and quad sweep.
I will still target the April 13th show and the May 10th show but she would also like me to do an all natural show. She feels I have a good shot at qualifying to go to the provincials - which would mean either a June 1 or September show too. This last bit really caught me off guard - I am just doing this to prove to myself I can and to see how much more I can change my body - never thought anything more. If I qualify, I'll have to determine next steps - let's just cross that bridge when and if it happens.
Now, back to her candor. She asked about my hub's support - he is so supportive I am not worried, but she advised that she sees many girls end up separating b/c they feel a lack of support / conflict over show prep. Good to let people know. She also talked about the mental side of the post show period - she openly said that it can be a real mind f#$k. Having read posts about this, I wasn't surprised, but I think it is fabulous that she took the time to talk to me about it.
She told me that she feels that too many people let the show experience become their sole focus - instead, she likes the show to be an extension of your lifestyle - a reflection of all your hard work and a very important day, but not a day for which the prep should harm any of the other aspects of your life (i.e. relationships, work, parenting). She is very much into the 'journey' versus the 'desination' and I like that.
All in all, I am still on a high - can't wait to receive my program and my eating plan. I am excited for the next few months and seeing how much more I can tweak my body with her help (and her hub's diet plan).
Thanks to anyone who read this - I am excited and wanted to share

Thanks Lori
Eating has been an ongoing experiment - I cut out most of my running in July but left cals around the same (2200ish). For a short while, I started to gain but, then I guess b/c I was also lifting heavier and with more, let's say, vigor, I found I was dropping weight. I was actually wanting to gain some size so I started fiddling with cals. I fiddled until I found intakes that allowed me to gain slowly (I was 138 on July 18 and now sit at 145/146 depending on the day) and I am consistently around 2600/day right now and haven't really moved the scale much (either way) in about 5/6 weeks.
I really struggled when I hit the 145 mark for the first time (mentally) b/c I was quite heavy in my youth and hadn't seen the 140s in a long time. As much as anyone can tell you, you never believe that you can feel and look better at a heavier weight until you experience it. My clothes fit better - people comment on how much leaner I look - they don't know I am sitting at the heaviest I have in over 15 years do they?
Even when I met w/ M (that is what I am going to call her), I asked what she thought my 'show' weight would be - she said she doesn't care what I weigh, just how I look. As she wisely pointed out, weight is a number - god knows I look different right now at 145 than I did in my late teens at 145

Wow, that's awesome! You look no fatter- just more muscular! Very inspiring!
I know what you mean about the weight gain- I was no muscle all jiggle at 135lbs many, many years ago. Bulking back up to 130 was very scary for me the first time I did a bulk! But I was still a few jean sizes smaller then that I was as a teenager. Actually, 120 was always a fat squishy weight for me when I first started and I was always aiming for 110lbs- now I'd be ~18% bf at 120 Awesome how building muscles workTeam Cookies Give You Superpowers
