Fooey on NBC for allowing Bob Costas to make such a hedious comment on handguns or 'because handguns are available that Jovan Blecher and his girlfriend are dead.' Why didn't he mention that Christopher Krumm used a crossbow and a knife to kill his father and girlfriend then kill himself with a knife. All this is in a weapons free zone (an educational institution). Guns don't kill people. People kill people. People who intend to kill somebody will use what ever means they can use. OH! What about those stupid people who strap explosives to themselves and detonate it in a crowd of people?...

I agree. As with every shooting/suicide, liberals will take every chance they can get to play on the emotions of people to get their precious gun bans and gun control.

Costas was hired to broadcast sports, not deliver sermons on this issue. Privately, he can believe what he wishes but when he comes out with something like this without any facts he just makes himself look foolish.

Cosell always spoke his mind, even when it wasn't popular. Costas doesn't have a mind to speak of...or with.

The key difference between liberals and conservatives is that conservatives realize accountability comes from within, liberals blame external sources.
Let's take a quiz. Guess if the statement is liberal or conservative
People who shoot people are to blame, not the guns.
I'm on food stamps because my daddy left my momma when I was 2.
Rich people are lucky and simply born into it.
Poor people have the same opportunities as rich people.
I think you see the difference....B: 285

It is sooo refreshing to read the words of a wise man in an increasingly victim-oriented liberal society.
Trust me on this: The liberals already have blamed the gun. Next, they'll blame football and head injuries.
It's never the actor's fault. He is but a victim.
Perhaps I shall raise my Son to better play the victim. I, myself, was never good at it. I figure if I kill someone, I'm a murderer...it's my action....my responsibilty. No, I need to start blaming my upbringing. My ethnicity. My lack of opportunities in life. My sports injuries (there are many) My financial difficulties. The optuions are endless.
PS: DID YOU HEAR THAT THE HOMELESS MAN WHO GOT BOOTS FROM THE NYC COP IS SHOELESS AGAIN AND DEMANDING "HIS PIECE OF THE PIE" FROM THE VIDEO.
Liberalism is a disease of the mind.Envy is ignorance. Imitation is suicide.

I just looked up this story. I am not pro or anti gun, but looks like you're not alone in your sentiment.

edit to add...I'm not sure people took issue as much with what Costas said, as much as the venue in which he chose to say it. If he was hosting an hour long program on gun control, there wouldn't be any controversy. So, I'm leaning to thinking that people's issue with this, isn't so much what was said, but the venue in which he chose to voice his opinion on gun control. Just my $.02.Last edited by whatevergirl; 12-03-2012 at 07:35 AM.

"Do you think SHE actually felt like that was a sexual thing he was doing? She's like 6. Only an actual p3do would think that she thought he was groping her, too."

Let's bake it out then. Since no rebuttals are forthcoming, merely name calling.
Liberals like big government. Conservatives like small government.
What is the purpose of government according to each? Why is there a need for large or small government? Big government is deemed to provide greater levels of services. Why the need for those services? It's the notion of the government has to do for me what I can't that I'm illustrating. Governmental budgets for the past 100 years support this fact. I've provided the evidence for this MANY times, yet only a nominal number downloads. Put together your own analysis of the federal budget, GDP, tax rates, controlling parties, etc, then you guys can call me lazy. Till then....
PS. Sell to the Federal government for 6 years then tell me what you think about big government....B: 285

I see Costas' point . . . I mean, nobody has ever been murdered without a gun. So make guns illegal . . . no more people being murdered. Makes total sense.

Costas spoke out because the victims were a little closer to him than to us, and he had an emotional outpouring. I often make poor judgement calls when I am emotional.
The ranting about liberals is ridiculous, just as the rants about the conservatives 8 years ago was ridiculous. The conservative and liberals represent the extremes, the outliers. The best solution is probably were the majority of the us stand, in the middle.
Dru? Middle? Nothing about your comments strike me as middle. You are making inflammatory remarks about others opinions. There are just as many conservatives that push the big government, what about them? The libertarians and Tea Party are a small minority. I lean liberal socially, yet would love to see a push for small government. I also believe strongly in the right to bear arms, but believe it responsible to have a modicum of gun control.
I would be interested in an example where liberals point fingers in the shadow of conservative accountability, because I guess I really don't know where this is coming from.

Middle because - Pro NIH, Pro Choice (not personally, but legally so), pro-gay marriage, pro-education (votech being reinstituted for example), chucking NCLB, support separation of church / state, pro-EPA, anti-war, legalize pot - that's my liberal side. Conservative side - low taxes, less gov't waste (and fire people to achieve this), less money for nothing programs (people do need help time-to-time, but they should have to do something for it).
You're right, conservatives lately have blurred the line. Bush and Obama are far more similar politically than they are different. I'm not happy with either of them.
As for inflammatory, typically ridiculous statements fetch a meh, stick a finger into a sore spot, and well...B: 285
