    knuckle push ups

I started doing knuckle push ups, and they are so awesome. They make me burn all over and are way more difficult than regulars. What specific extra muscles do knuckle push ups work?

Your wrists work differently since they have to stabilize the wrist alignment. You'd work flexors/extensors as opposed to normal pushups where you don't work much of either, possibly some flexion in a stretched position.

The instability would be felt in the whole body I guess.

The exercise also has more potential RoM since your arms have become longer than with a flat palm. Doing them on the second knuckle would be even more extreme, but they are not even.

I did many variations while doing martial arts.

I can do them on knuckles and 3 fingers (each hand).

The only difference is probably the positioning of the wrists, which really shouldn't effect the difficulty or ease of the pushups.

Not for the chest or triceps maybe, but certainly for the hands and keeping stable, plus RoM as mentioned.

Might give you greater ROM, but you're also putting a lot of pressure directly on your joints (knuckles). Would you do barbell presses standing on your knees?

I guess the idea is to "condition" the hands for better striking or some such nonsense. Hands are very fragile. Just ask a boxer.
