Ever since I tried to be more healthy, I cut down on my soda intake because I've heard very bad things about whats in it. Mostly that its almost like taking pure poison into your body. One of the prime ingredients of any soft drink is high fructose corn syrup.
Now imagine how surprised I was after reading the ingredients of my ON Gold Standard 100% Whey Protein. It has high fructose corn syrup!
WHY?
EDIT: I mean isn't High fructose corn syrup bad for us? Why the fudge is it in my protein?

hes not syain ne thing is wrong with fructose, just saying that the natural veriosn has it, which in my opinion is better then High fructose corn syrup since its naturally occuring.
the all natural ones are mos def less sweet, but i dont care, i just down the shakes neway. plus i dont get that annoying gas with sucralose

It's preferentially stored as liver glycogen rather than muscle glycogen like glucose is; fine if you do a lot of cardio, less useful for resistance training. Additionally once fructose is in the liver it can aid in the production of triglycerides (fat), and increase fat formation.
If you want a picture of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face - forever.

Agreed. I always watch out for high fructose corn syrup, anything partially hydrogenated, and a bunch of artificial colors and flavors.
Many foods have cut corners and gone a little too far to modify taste, color, and how long something lasts on the shelf to the point of causing health problems down the road for many.
I haven't seen too much of a problem in protein shakes, but many protein bars have some or all of the above.
I see no problem with fast food since any knucklehead knows it's not good for you and they know they're putting "dirty fuel" in. However, food and food supplements that are related to a healthy lifestyle or packaged for kids I don't think should have any of the above. People think they're eating healthy and they're NOT.

a little HFCS is not going to hurt you
unless you are also drinking like 12 sprites, cokes, pepsi's what have you a day as well
the HFCS in ON Cookies and Cream (the only ON Whey protein that has HFCS) is not enough to hurt you even at 3+ shakes a day
and ON offers many other flavors and a all natural whey protein as well

thats apples and oranges
HFCS is no where near as harmful as cigarettes
if you think a few grams of HFCS a day is going to cause harm to someone then I dont know what to say
are you ok? you seem a little hostile towards ON
and since you asked I would recommend someone smoking 1 or more cigs depending on how many they smoked before, its called tapering off silly

There's nothing wrong with fructose, but 30-40% of the population may be intolerant to it, meaning it can cause bloating, gas, etc. (See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fructose_malabsorption). I suspect I'm one of those, and I avoid anything with fructose high on the ingredient list.
