An egg contains about 6gms protein. This is approximately fifteen percentage of the daily suggested protein level for a grown-up. Eggs also contain Vitamins D, B and E, phosphorous and calcium. The calorie content of an egg is about 75.
This is what happens when the white is separated from the yolk. The egg yolk has 59 calories and the white has a protein content of 3.5gms. The yolk has around 5gms fat. The white has no fat content in it.Â* This is why egg whites are more nutritious than the yolk.
Egg yolk has cholesterol in it. Recently a research from a New York University showed that consumption of eggs increased the cholesterol level only in two out of five people.

I generally go with a set number of whites and then take half of that for yolks. If I eat 6 egg whites I'll eat 3 yolks to go with it. Or 4 and 2. Yolks get a bad rap but are actually a pretty good part of the egg to eat.

I agree. 1 or 2 yolks a day won't do any harm. Try comparing the fat level to a scoop of PB.

Why not eat 4 whole eggs instead of 6 whites and 3 yolks?

If you throw away yolks, you're missing out most of the nutrients in the egg. Just saying.

I usually do 2 egg white and 1 whole egg, only reason I am doing it is for calorie control at this point. I see nothing that has me concerned with the cholesterol shat that I don't really believe. I have the good fortune not to waste my egg yokes I use the 2 yokes and mix them in with 2 other eggs and some milk cover them with some cheddar cheese and my kids have their favorite non sugar coated breakfast.

stop. If you knew what you were talking about, you would know that the nutrition is in the yolk. If you knew anything about cholesterol you would know if you take in enough, then your body has to make less. You eat whites due to a calorie budget, not because they are more nutritious than whole eggs.

agree 100%. If you're really watching fat/cal's intake then yea, I can see cutting out the yolk as its very calorie dense. However, we used to eat the entire egg...the cholesterol scare is BS. The yolk is yellow because it's packed w/ GOOD HEALTHY nutrients.

Caloric reasons for me. I love big omletes but discarding a few yolks helps out with the budget. And I have found that I actually enjoy the texture and flavor more of a 1-2 yolk w/ 6 white omlete.
