Protein bars are like glorified candy bars...a bit extra protein with a crappier taste and way more expensive. Honestly man, try to get your calories and macros from real food. Eat a sandwich or some peanut butter...or a peanut butter sandwich!
If you are set on getting protein bars, the Colossus 100's and Met-RX bars, as well as Pure Protein are the ones with a taste I could stand. However, fair warning...a lot of protein bars also contain sugar alcohols, which if consumed too much, can cause gastrointestinal discomfort. I used to eat like 2 a day and I had diarrhea for weeks!

I have yet to find a protein bar (store bought) that is not loaded with either saturated fat, or sugar. However, I live in Canada and variety in the market tends to be slim here.
How about in the states...?
Obv. home made is best, but I'm interested to know if there are any - truly - healthy protein bars on the American market.
The closest I have seen on this side of the border is some diabetic meal replacement bars, which were - of course - stupidly expensive. The road is long.

Quest Protein Bars are the only ones I've ever seen that do not include ANY sugar, sugar alcohols or other junk ingredients.

Also have to add that they have not prevented my weight loss at all and I have eaten them while cutting all the way down to 8% body fat.

Another option for those who want to make their own, but have a habit of burning down their kitchen/ chopping off digits when cooking... Awesome little gem is this --> http://youbars.com/buildabar
