know them feels OP
it's called the 'Mere-exposure effect'.
definition - Also called the familiarity principle, this psychological tendency causes individuals to prefer an option that they have been exposed to before to an option they have never encountered, even if the exposure to the first option was brief. The Mere Exposure Effect can be useful in marketing, as many forms of advertising can be used to create a feeling of familiarity with the product.CFC

I have noticed I look better in a mirror than in pics, but I think I look ok in pics, guess I'm just lucky, or deluded.
When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.

Poverty cameras with focal lengths not designed for portraits is your issue brah.
Imagine how you would look up close, with a wide angle lens... Like sloth from the goonies, right? Well up close without a good camera, that is basically what's happening to a lesser extent.
80 MM is good for portrait, human eye is the rough equivalent of 50 mm or so.
Any less or too close, getting huge distortion.

If you took a picture into Paintshop and mirror imaged it , would that be the accurate image?
"Nothing in the world can take the place of Persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan 'Press On' has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race."

Camera phones have small lenses so they distort your face. Then you have the lighting issues which can enhance certain features over others causing an imbalance. If you can get access to a professional camera , use that for personal pics. It can seriously make a huge difference.
Here's a good article I read on this.

Exactly, A professional picture is a better representation of your face than a poverty smartphone camera. That's why you see all these sloots taking pro pics thinking they're models.
Also video> picture. A video of yourself is how you really look (with less quality/lighting) , so record yourself for a min and you should see what you're used to seeing in the mirror.

Especially on the iphone where u can reverse the camera and look right at yourself, look freaking horrible, but when I look in the mirror I'm like "dang , you're a good looking dude." any mirror I look good in srs. 7/10 on camera, 8.5/10 in mirror
like some of you have mentioned, high quality , non camera phones, make me look good like i do in mirrors
