Wrist pain from barbell bicep curl?

So does anybody else get wrist pain from barbell bicep curls? I always had it. No clue why. Even with light weights like 40lbs, after 5-6 reps my wrists start to hurt, but with dumbbells my wrists don't hurt, no matter what weight i am using. Is it because my forearms are weak? I mean i can deadlift 225lb for 5reps no problem, so i doubt it's my forearms. My form is very strict and i don't cheat. EZ curl bars feel awkward as hell to curl, so i guess i will stick to dumbbells, but i always hear people say barbell bicep curls are the best movements for biceps. Any of you brahs get this? Oh yea i forgot to mention, i do my dumbbell bicep curls in the squat rack while sitting on a bench that i dragged over there. Come at me bros.

How many Chin Ups can you do? Dead hang after each rep, no kicking, etc. If you can't do 20 then you shouldn't even be curling IMO. come at me bro.

    4. You're doing too much ****.

    23. You're working on your "lagging biceps", but you can't even do 8 chin-ups with good form.

    Hi,

Switch to dumbbells and do curls, supernating the wrist as it comes up, and returning to your sides on the eccentric.

2 to 3 sets of 6-10 reps should be fine when working biceps or after working back.

You could also try concentration curls seated, also turning the wrist on the way up, hope it helps.

I say give em a break! I have had pain in my wrists before and also in my elbows, and i noticed when i gave em a little break they tend to get better over time...also it seems that you are lifting pretty heavy for your stats! thats comendible, but somtimes you have to give your body a break form the heavy weights! also, are you taking any fish oil supps? joint complex? those might help to pad your joints a little...you should also start really reading about body compisition and exactly how the muscles grow and work...that will help you to hit all the heads of the biceps and other body parts to achieve overall eveness when trying to build muscle!!
Pain is weakness.... leaving the body!

About 17. Feelsbadmayne, but i can do 5 with decent form with a 45lb plate strapped on.

But in all seriousness guys, why does this only happen with barbell and not dumbbells, even though i am using more weights on dumbbells?

Your not keeping your wrist straight throughout the entire movement IMO. It could also be that your your grip strength is lacking causing you to bend your wrists.

Currently using CL orange triad and fish oil, so yes i am using a joint supp, but i don't care too much about hitting the bicep from all the different angles, i just prefer 1 good movement because my bis get a lot of work from back movements already.

I use very strict form when doing barbell curls. I doubt it's weak grip strength as i can deadlift 225lbs for 5 reps. My wrists hurts using any weights on a barbell, even 40lbs, when i can curl 60lb.

(this is just speculation - usingimaginationsincenovideo) One thing many people don't realize when it comes to the bicep is that it also plays a large role in rotation of your arm. When performing barbell curls (limiting rotational movement) you are placing more strain on less trained muscles of the forearm during a basic curl movement with larger weight.... just guessing.

Wrist pain with a straight bar is fairly common. Stretching properly before and after can help some, but doing it too often can still get to me. Do what you can pain free, one isolation move is not that big of a deal.

Does curling in the squat rack count as lifting?

Ok thanks, but i was just curious why my wrists hurt when i use a barbell.

    Ok I've been mean enough.

Loosen your grip, try wrist wraps, switch to weighted pull ups, use a bent bar....BB curl isn't superior

A lot of people develop pain from BB curling or two-handed curling. Just go unilateral.
“Go back?" he thought. "No good at all! Go sideways? Impossible! Go forward? Only thing to do! On we go!" So up he got, and trotted along with his little sword held in front of him and one hand feeling the wall, and his heart all of a patter and a pitter.”

^^This. Especially if you can't do it without hurting or if you can't lift as heavy.

Move your arms (grip) out a little wider, my guess is that you're coming in to much making them bend or flex in an unnatural way. Just my .02

EZ bar or DB's. Use your brain and switch the movement if it hurts.

Switch to EZ Bar or DBs. Thats what I did when I felt the same pain from doing BB curls.
