dude you oughta check out my mma strongman post in misc it has 8 pages of debat going on as of now my main point is i say heavyweights lightheavyweights would be able to beat strongmen but 400lb plus strongman would be able to beat 155 lbers do to the unimaginable strength difference overrding the skill difference there too strong to get submittede by a 155 no matter if its 100 percnet locked in and can easily use their weight for a slam and wont be able to get them off from on top should be able to mount easily due to size and strength

Did my rating based on personality and strength. Don't really care for Shaw and Z is on that list just for his accomplishments I've seen. Never heard him speak english in an interview so I could understand him, but he's one of the strongest men alive, no question.

Bill, I feel made the largest contribution towards WSM as far as a competitor goes.

have to consider he was not allowed to compete a few years in wsm, in which he would have most likely won. Also consider he was a high ranked powerlifter at the time, no other strongman has been able to dominate both sports like he did at the same time.

    because hes tall/weighs a lot

    (i agree with you)

I'm torn between Kaz and Magnus ver for best of all time. I got to watch Magnus in his prime and only caught Kaz at the tail end of his career. In a few years I'll probably add Z to the list of tied for best if he wins a few more titles.

My knowledge of WSM has been mainly dependent on TV and i would have said JPS without doubt untill i saw a documentry about the competition which stated, as has been mentioned above that-Bill was pushed out during his peak and would have gained anything from about 1-5 more wins. We will never know now of course but he has to be considersd one of the all time greats.
Jps once stated that Jamie Reeves was the only man to beat him when he was in good shape (meening without injuries) but obviously he didnt win as many WSM comps.

    1 Hulk
    2 Thor
    3 Rhino
    4 JPS
    5 Big Z
    6 Marius
    7 Bill
    8 Magnus
    9 Yuko
    10 Jamie

    Joint first with Big Z!

Those are the 2 guys who I honestly believe was the outright strongest person on the planet, that includes WSM plus at static stuff. They have it all, I mean some of the guys have got long arms so are great at deadlift but not so great pressers, but these pair literally have massive press, pull and squat while also being great at all the weird strongman events.

yeah I know, but the problem is you gotta go on assumptions then...no guarantee the next year he wouldnt have been injured and lost, gotten beat on an off day, etc... sucks bc youll never know how many he could've won.

also remember Mariusz lost a year due to the performance enhancing test

i think it depends whether it was more of an arnold type event with more heavy, static lifts or a WSM type event with a mix of those and the dynamic events... Kaz had more outright strength but MP is alot better athlete and would smoke him in the moving events

Bill is cerainly the greatest of them all. no other athlete was able to combine that kind of charisma, personality, impressive lean body, endurance, speed and overall strength in any movement. you just can't find an event Bill sucked at.

Bill is the stongest man to ever live........he said so himself
IMHO, he's the greatest strongman ever. As a kid I thought he wasn't really a human.
I still remember a pic of him up on the wall at the old Golds I trained at, it was a back shot. He made all the Mr.O's look like children.
    Need vid up in here.

was it this one? Its a pretty crazy shot of his back never seen that kind of thickness even on bodybuilders.

He is for sure one of the all time greats, I personally wouldn't say he is the best pure strongman though. I think guy like big z who has really dominated for close to a decade is the best ever in pure strongman, not to mention all the records he has set. Yet bill was the first guy to really just dominate in strongman like noone else, and was a high level powerlifter also. He is the idol of most of the current strongman.

Tough to say, top 5, maybe top 3.

The other guys in the conversation have to be Big Z, Mariusz, Magnus, and Jon Pall.
