Vague question I know.
I know that raw strength isn't everything in the UFC, but still I can't help but wonder. Take 225lb for example. What type of fighter should be expected to lift this amount? BJ Penn? GSP? Anderson Silva? Randy Couture? Frank Mir?
I'm at a total loss with this one. Hopefully you guys can shed some light on this.

How much do UFC fighters benchpress?
You dont have to say anything unique. you would be surprised how far a lie can take you. "Hey you look so familiar were you at such and such bar a few nights ago? I saw a girl that looked JUST like you there." (she will probably say no) and then you will say "Oh thats crazy well I like your shirt. my name is ___ btw."
It is a simple enough conversation and either it will take off or she will give you the cold shoulder. if she gives you the cold shoulder f*ck her.

randy and GSP probably could
i think any decent wrestler could rep out 225 even lightweights, or featherweights

There is no way to know that.....I know gsp dumbell presses 120s for a set of 4 supersetted with medicine ball tosses .....so I'm sure he can throw up between 275 and 315 .... But he is stronger then average that's for sure

I saw BJ working out in an airport gym killing time until his flight and he repped out 185 for 12. He did struggle on the last rep though.

so for me thats about 300 x 5-10.... 300 x 10 would = a max of like, 400
that dosent seem unreasonable for an athlete
300 x 5 = a max of about 340, i havent done a max on flat bench in a while but i can incline bench 315 for one, so i dont think this calculation is out of the question

I played college football at JUCO and DIV II. When I was a junior and senior I could bench 1.5 times my weight 5 times easy. I weighed 220 and could bench 330 easy 5 times. I can do that now, but I'm older and have a RPM of 385 @ 220. Could bench 3x5x355 a few months ago, could only get 4 and 3 on the 4th and 5th set, was 228 then though. Some people will say that strength doesn't matter its all technique, but honestly tahts what weak people say. I think in todays MMA game you need every advantage you CAN get.
