Open Heart Surgery on May 26, 2012. My life goal is to educate and inspire other heart patients. Medical study for new heart patient drugs to start in January 2013. If you have a family history of heart disease please get your blood tested ASAP and your kids. It could save their life.

looking at the vid, I can see your point. Didn't feel short, but there ya go.
Higher at the top (more vertical arm at lockout), lower at the bottom (get upper arm to vertical or slightly below?) or both?My journal http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=150040863

Thanks y'all! I'm glad those family pictures are over. The kids are always the least cooperative when you need them to be the most. I most definitely gained from my 3-day eatfest but I'm too scared to weigh. I had to dig out clothes I hadn't worn in TWO YEARS (from my "fat days") just to have something to wear. Nothing fits. There better be some good gains under dat dere fat! I started my new routine today. I'm so not used to low volume stuff. I felt like I should be doing more...

Dips can be frustrating because it's easy to think you are doing full ROM . . . but then you do a video and it's not what you swore you were doing. I've gone through more than a few sessions that I was psyched coming off the bars and then watched the video and ended up disappointed. But for form, you want at least 90 degrees and can go a little deeper if your shoulders are comfortable with it. But 90 minimum. Top doesn't have to be full-on lockout to protect the elbows but should be close.
I highly recommend a dip belt . . . mine was a "cheapie" at less that $30 and I put up to 3 plates on it with no issues (all I did was put a better chain on it). But there are videos/threads out there where people make them with chain and various materials. For just adding a little weight you can even use a backpack if it's sturdy enough. Keep at it!*MFC Elder Statesmen Cabinet Crew*

Thanks. I needed that. I keep telling myself that the strength I gain will be worth the reduction in volume and that I'll need the extra recovery time to continue to make progress. This is the first week, however, and Ive been instructed NOT to go to failure but rather just get a baseline... which makes sense.

Thanks for the thoughts. A dip belt is on my want to buy list, but just bought a rack with spotters for squats, still need a new bench too, so the old belt will have to do for the mean time. Who knows what santa may bring this year

that is a killer transformation
Still can't believe how relatively recently you had shoulder surgery for how you look. Great job man.
Look big mister!
I always want to slap you when you say you feel small. You look great ID.There will come a day when I tire of listening to 80's music. That day is not today.

Thanks man....I could probably use a good slap right now. Man, I feel like a neurotic little bi!ch at times as this diet progresses. Maybe that would fix it!
Took this before I went to change for my workout. Midsection still a little thicker then I want. Most other stuff has leaned out well.
(sorry for the fuzzy pic...guess I dont hold my hand steady enough)
Tonight I battled the cutting demons the only way I know how.....with cold cast iron!
188lbs. 500lbs (2.65BW) deads for 6 reps. No belt! Not too bad for a skinny guy
(Note: for those that say it is 5lbs under, 2 of the plates weigh 46 and 2 weigh 46.5....yes I weighed all my plates )

You guys and gals are killin' it in here. Major props to all!
I've been reverse dieting for the past 25 days and was feeling fat tonight--had to take a few shots to mark progress as clothes are feeling tighter .
The next 4 years I am attacking my arms with a vengeance!! I feel that I need at least 18" guns in order to be competitive. We'll see--arms have always been small. Sitting at 16.25" with no pump and flexed.

Once again, not fat not pudgy.
I hate family pics too, but my wife is good at pushing me and I'm always glad we did them once they're over.
Great pulling ID. On the diet front, I cannot relate, but IronWill comes to mind with his comments, "steady as she goes".
Looking really thick! You don't have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great.

Just looking super solid through the arms and chest in that pic and showing nice oblique cuts and I'm really, really admiring those deads. Those 500 reps looked pretty easy for you and the form was tight! 2.65BW x 6 reps! FTW!
Nice pic --- looks like a travel brochure pic for the Bahamas
Still looking lean and big and I would have guessed those guns to be a shredded 17"Better to wear out than rust out!"
