    why is weighing food important

Been curious as why weighing your food in grams to help you lose weight is important. I eat healthy 4 to 5 times a day. I've had to increase my calorie intake because i was only making 750 to 1000 but in doing so I've gained 2 pounds could that just be water weight?

its best to weight your food if your counting your calories because its the most and only way to be accurate. you could be eating 60-100 calories more per meal than you intend to. so if your aiming to cut 1 pound per week (which is 3500 calories) and you aren't weighing your food you can be eating 420 to 700 calories more a week than you think you are.

    Some food for thought
    Starting Weight:

    | 3/02: --- lbs | 3/09: --- lbs | 3/16: --- lbs | 3/23: --- lbs | 3/30: --- lbs | MARCH LOSS: ??
    | 4/06: --- lbs | 4/13: --- lbs | 4/20: --- lbs | 4/27: --- lbs | APRIL LOSS: ??
    | 5/04: --- lbs | 5/11: --- lbs | 5/18: --- lbs | 5/25: --- lbs | MAY LOSS: ??

    TOTAL LOSS: ??

Goal at the end of the challenge: 297

but if you're not weighing your food, how do you know the caloric content? @1000 calories and 200 lbs, you will NOT gain weight, so you are miscounting.

All foods have calories, even though some are very little. Personally I log everything . I use myfitnesspal.com to log my macros since its free, has a smartphone app and they have almost everything preloaded into their system.

Same here. I like to be as accurate as possible...and a scale is a great tool for that.
