    Brown rice VS White rice?

So, I'm eating a big amount of white rice as a daily basis, but the people around here are eating brown rice instead, so what is the big difference and should I change the white rice to brown?
How its better from white rice? better nutritional macros?

    Compare nutritional differences here: http://www.nutritiondata.com

Superiority, or lack thereof, between the two is exaggerated. While brown rice is more nutritious than white rice on an absolute scale, the differences won't make a bit of difference in a balanced diet anyway. And the GI comparison is rather pointless.

If you like white, eat white. If you want to eat some brown, then eat some brown.

brown rice= lower gi, complex carb, more fibre.
    white rice= higher gi.

Brown rice is better as its a complex carb and has more fibre but its not necessary unless you want to cut.

I am not sure about that. I think that both brown and white rice are complex carbs (polysaccharides). They are both starchy carbs.

White rice is just more refined (nutrients stripped out) than brown rice.

White rice and brown rice are both complex. The vast (like 95%) of the calories in both are the EXACT same.

I'm starting a cut soon, so brown rice would be the way to go then huh. (i'm sick of oatmeal and bread for my complex carbs)

Yea brown rice all the way. And any white rice that is packaged is usually coated in wheat gluten to make it sticky and tastier.

This difference does indeed seem to be exaggerated, and is only relevant if you are eating a ton of rice daily as a staple.

If you are just eating <1 cup (uncooked) (which is a good bit o rice) a day, I would say stick to your white yummyness. Do you eat plenty of veggies/seeds/nuts/beans/whole grains etc? If so, then the loss of fiber from eating white rice is nothing to worry about.

I do find it tricky, everywhere you look it says white rice, white pasta, white flour etc are simple carbs, also on bb.com you'll find that. Its not a big deal, after all white rice has a high gi and thats all most people are mainly concerned with.

people around these parts don't care about GI much either, cause it's useless.

GI is pretty flawed. Any full meals with white rice as the carb source won't have any noticeable GI difference based on taking away a little bran husk.

This obsession with sugar and other simple carbohydrates including white pasta, white rice and white bread is not only contributing to our waistlines but making us ill as well.

Thanks. As Mr. Horse points out, that writer is a nitwit, at least wrt to nutrition. Even the things she gets almost right are worded so badly as to be unintelligible.

ezinearticle.com is a pretty terrible source of info on pretty much anything. They just accept whatever content they can in order to attract viewers for their ads, which is the real reason the site exists. Check out alanaragon.com and bodyrecomposition.com for more reliable nutrition info.
