Anyone here take a blade to the head?
I've been clipping the head for a long while now and recently decided to just start shaving it. Came across some awesome tips for first timers or guys that have been doing it for years.
1. Gillette Mach 3 is awesome and just the right amount of blades. To many blades causes to small of gaps making it harder to clean out or need to clean out a lot more often plus easier to nick. (So far I've tried 4 blade, 5 blade, head blade, electric and the bald guys on other forums were spot on with the Mach 3 being the best)
2. Shave at the end of the shower or after when the pores are open and head is clean reducing ingrown hairs and nicks
3. Warm up the blade don't use it cold reducing closing of poors and ingrown hairs and nicks
4. Use a moisturizing conditioner(not a 2-n-1) and not shaving cream. IF you do use a shaving cream do not use anything with menthol or cool gel as it will close up the poor and more of a chance for ingrown hairs and nicks. (I found this one on another forum and there was a long discussion on the origins of conditioners and how this makes sense)
5. Go with the grain at first until the head gets used to it
6. Do not put apply pressure causing nicks
I'm still looking for a good aftershave or moisturizer as I have pretty sensitive skin and really easy to break out due to fragrances. My Training Journal: http://tinyurl.com/jasons-journal

hrmmm theres a USPA meet coming up in march not too far of a drive (only other options are local usapl which I won't do, or drive 4 hours to goto apf meet in orlando). Might just register for the push/pull. But it's a 'state championship' meet. No idea how big it'll be.. most people seem to either compete usapl or apf in florida.

I swear by the Gillette 2-blade with the pivoting head (very important) and the lubra-strip. In the shower, wet the blade, take it slow, make sure it doesn't get clogged if your hair happens to be slightly "long". I don't use soap but soap does help to find the little longer patches you might have missed during round 1.

yeah brian schwab runs the apf in FL i believe. he wants me to come up for the meet but I cant swing the gas money / dont wanna drive 8 hours on a meet day... His meets also draw a huge crowd... I did some photography for the southern states meet couple years ago & it ****in' lasted from 10am to 11pm. needs to cap the number of lifters. Heard it happened in '12 as well.
