What does 1 tablespoon of peanut butter look like?

I have a huge problem with measuring stuff.

Anyone got a pic of what one tablespoon of peanut butter and what ONE CUP of cooked rice would look like?

get a set at the dollar store or walmart for cheap. Then you'll know exactly how much stuff you are eating.

You should invest in some measuring cups but if you have a tablespoon, put some PB on it and level it out. That's about 1 tbsp. A heaped tablespoon is much more than just 1 portion.

Two tbsps of pb are the size of a golf ball so one tbsp would be half the size of a golf ball.

I think the easiest way to measure what I am going to eat is just to use a digital scale. The less dirty dishes the better.

I agree. 1 tbsp of peanut butter is SO small. Actually 1 generous tsp is about a tbsp.

I've had a couple digital scales, just get one that has both grams and ounces min. Some have a separate zeroing button from the off button too (mine does). Should be no more than 20-30 USD.

technically speaking I believe 3 tsps is a tablespoon. so if you took 3 level spoonfuls of a regular spoon, that should be about right. getting measuring cups is your best bet though, they're pretty cheap and will come in handy very often

Most digital scales are within 2 grams. I bought one in Aus recently for $40 AUS, so about 35US.

    Just go to walmart.

IMO, it is an essential device whilst cutting if one wants to consume almonds, PB, flaxmeal, etc, otherwise your guesses could be very wrong.

I even use it for chicken/kangaroo/sweet potato/oats now, although I don't worry for non-starchy veggies (does anyone here weigh brocolli - would be impressive dedication!!).

And yes, a 25 gram serve of PB is not very much. Kinda disappointing really.

lol, I usually don't have to. If I'm weighting out something like 48 grams of peanut butter I'll measure the weight of a metal spoon and then use that spoon to dig out peanut butter until I get the correct weight. That way only 1 thing needs washing.

I got my digital scale at Walmart for about $30 USD. It was definitely worth it.

I got mine at target. It weighs grams and ounces and has a tare button (zeros it out). It's not on the page of this link but here are a few.

    http://www.target.com/gp/search/602-...bx_1_1&x=0&y=0

also go to amazon and search for food scale. Happy shopping- if you spend more than $25 you should get free shipping.

I cheat with this. I always have the tbsp overflowing and only count it as 1 tsbp! Maybe that's why cutting is going slow!

I bought 1/2 and 2/3 tbsp spoons and use them instead when I'm not counting calories because I tend to do the same thing.

When I'm counting, I'm much more controlled.

    lol

You guys actually weigh your pb? Why not just use a regular measuring spoon that is accurate?

I just never thought anyone did this.

its faster than a measuring spoon as you don't have to level it. Well, I guess if you keep it in the fridge and it is firm, I mean.

    That's likely 2 tbsp.

If you take 1 tsp like the kind you use to stir coffee, and heap it a bit, it will be about a tbsp.

    So strict!

I just put spoon inside and grab pb and push against the glass wall of jar to level it. Works good or use finger and lick it.

How do you keep the 'roo from bouncing around & distorting the read?
