Farley when do you think you will have your new ar completed? what else are you needing to complete it?

I don't need anything that I haven't ordered (or already have)

UPS says the upper should arrive Friday. At that point the MOE handguard w/QD mount-n-slot attached, which I ordered on Tuesday from IWC (impact weapon components), will be the only thing I need to complete the upper.

I will then need to build the lower. I have the stripped (aero precision) lower and a Colt FCG (out of my 6920), with a lower build kit (magpul ACS-L stock/MOE handguard in OD green) ordered from PSA. That's probably the limiting factor. Getting the LBK from PSA, and then putting it together. I'd like to have it done within 2 weeks. We'll see. Might not have PSA stuff by then.

I also ordered a Noveske QD receiver endplate and a Stag H buffer (LBK comes with carbine weight buffer, I think) that I will want to receive before final completion.




Edit: Of course, when is a rifle truly finished? lol It may be "complete", but it won't be finished. My Colt isn't finished yet, either.

thats awesome man, i'm glad you were able to pick up that upper. I'm excited to see it all completed.

I put a Geissele SSA into the Colt a couple months ago, so it's the original Colt FCG with (I'd have to check notes to be sure) something like 1,500 rounds through it. The PSA FCG will make a great spare/backup though.

Anyone have a suggestion on a good knife? I am either wanting something I can carry with me just to have on my person or maybe something a little larger I can keep in my truck. I don't want to break the bank but i don't mind spending money on something that is worth it.

me too, i have an m44 that i am getting but that just isn't gettin it done for me. I really want a milled ak or build me a nice ar.

i looked at buying some and building but ak's seem more involved than i have the time for right now. gonna need a press and rivets... just seems much more involved. Not that i am up for the challenge i just don't have the time with school.

i have read that it is actually pretty easy if you have the proper tools and there are a ton of instructional videos on youtube

oh thats awesome. how is that Geissele trigger? I have been wanting to put one in my 6920 for a while but never got around to doing it. and i agree, having back up parts is a great idea. I actually wanted to buy another bolt assembly and FCG just in case something happens.

I am pretty sure everyone here will be in agreement with you.

The most annoying argument that I am hearing right now is that the constitution was written at a time when they didnt realize how powerful weapons would get since then, and they would have never wanted us to have auto rifles with high cap mags. What kills me is, these modern day politicians don't seem to have a clue what any of our forefathers were thinking, because they go against everything they stood for, but yet they have themselves convinced otherwise.

my argument to that is at the time of the constitution there was no such thing as radio, tv, internet. Your right to freedom of speech was limited by how loud you can yell and how many people were in your vicinity. The founding fathers clearly had no idea that one day your words could be recorded and broadcast instantaneously around the world. Then they usually say something like "well this is different".....no, no it's not different, you just refuse to recognize the similar argument

I just got my first pistol about 3 weeks ago... Maybe a few of you remember me debating between getting a 9mm and a 40 gun, well I ended up choosing neither... Instead I went with a 45 cal Glock 30 SF. I couldn't be happier with my decision either. At a time when ammo is extremely tight, and 9mm has been IMPOSSIBLE to find in my area, I've had no trouble getting 45 cal practice rounds 50/$19. I've been to two different ranges thus far and have put approx. 300 rounds down without a hiccup. I plan to purchase night sights at some point, but I'm still undetermined on a brand. Got lucky and found a 13 round mag at a local outdoor store for $34.00... Besides that I've just installed Pearce Grip Extensions on my pair of factory 10 mags.

I know my firepower is miniscule compared to most, but I wanted to share some pics anyway. Will try to get some of my bare-boned pistol grip Mossberg 590 soon.

if its for self defense id go with big dot sights. easier to sight than standard sights especially in a need to defend situation
