    Gaining Muscle while Cutting.

I plan on cutting, but i was wondering if i drink 3 protein shakes a day with glutamine, i reckon i should be able to loose fat, by cardio and a clean diet. But still gain muscle because of weight lifting and a high protein intake.

    is this true?

    WILL REP for good answers

While it is possible your gains are going to be alot more limited. Especially for a beginner. Good luck though!

I'm doing a pretty healthy cut and noticed I've lost quite a bit of muscle, especially on my bicep. Any tips?

Are you taking enough protein? Getting plenty of rest?

I'm getting roughly 1 gram per lb. And I lift 3x a week, do 30 mins cardio on my lifting day, and do HIIT on my of days. Too much?

You can gain muscle while cutting, but 3 protein shakes is overkill.. Real food would be better

You can still most certainly gain muscle while cutting, just not at a considerably high pace or rate. Especially during your first month or so of lifting when you're still making newb gains, you'll see muscle increase as well as a fat decrease at the same time.

As time progresses, though, the results will be negligible and you will generally lose more muscle than you gain while cutting after you have trained for a while.

Surely it depends on the severity of the cut? Im sure you can see small gains but as said before tgey are limited.

So in my position, at 5'9, 170 lbs, and about 16% bf, would I be better of doing a clean bulk for a month or two, and then cutting? Or just cutting.
