Yes but to follow peoples logic how guns should be restricted/banned......
Found by just doing a quick google search
7,500 people die of gunshot wounds per year and 35,000 people die in traffic accidents.
These of course are just averages.
So if we follow this logic we should also call for a ban on motor vehicles.
EDIT: Forgot to add the link where this came up...

I have had the opportunity to travel on a highway now that has a limit of 85. The crazy thing is, when I first came to Texas, I thought it was awesome to be able to do 70 because this state is so big it takes many, many hours to get some places. I then got out on a highway with a limit of 85, and people were getting just downright nuts. No matter how hight he limit, people will ALWAYS break it by at least 10mph. I was traveling at 88mph (Keep in mind, I am driving a diesel), and cars were just flying by me. These folks were doing close to 100 mph and above. I honestly felt that I reached my threshold of what is "fast" for a highway, maybe too fast.

Welcome to the Texas 'autobahn' . The *** do not give any leeway on the 85 speed limit. If you think it is bad here, try traveling the toll road to Monterrey, Mexico. Several years back, when it opened up, I was doing 100 mph, and cars were passing me by like a granny going to church on Sunday.
I like to ride my horses and shoot my guns

lol No thanks, at least, not in a 2500 4 door diesel. This thing doesn't handle like a sports car. It runs great, and an easily pull hard to 100mph, but I don't feel comfortable doing that, especially with a wife, a 3 and 5 year old too. Hopefully if I just stay in the right lane, people will miss me. lol

Since we insist on using cars. How many cars are on the road in comparison to how many guns are in circulation? How much time is spent driving a car in comparison to shooting a gun? How often are cars driven in comparison to shooting guns? Lets do this comparison fair. Someone said know all the facts before making a desicion. Lets get them all.
Before someone says that irrelevant be sure you've never considered body weight as applied to strength CPR used it as a ratio as it is the same thing. If there is 10 million cars on the road daily and 10,000 guns fired a day the rate of incident would be much higher in cars due to statistical chances of an accident. So using your numbers lets say for argument t sake there are 1million cars and what 100,000 guns? 35k out of a million is much better ratio then 7500 in 100,000. That's not including any usage rates such as people drive for the most part at the least 30 min a day not many people shoot guns 30 min a day.
Need me to further shoot holes in this stupid comparison between guns and cars?
How many people die a year due to food ie allergys choking over eating lets compare food and guns. Holy **** people while I support your right to have guns the car argument is completely stupidExcuses are like A-holes everyone's got 1...............

In America, there are 812 privately owned vehicles per 1000 people, and 888 guns per 1000 people.

EXACTLY! This whole topic about banning cars, guns, etc. is ridiculous.
It's not the car or gun that is doing the killing, it is the person.
Like I said earlier in this thread a gun cannot walk into a school or mall and kill people. And a parked car cannot kill someone (unless it is Christine of course).

from the outside looking in....... I'm not a right or left winger.
"republian fair if you a multi millionaire, democrat fair if all you own is what you wear, hot plate in heaven at the green hotel" ZAPPA.
the right act like the 2nd is being abolished, well I ain't hearing any signs of that, the administration himself say he belive in right to bear arms.
you'll still get to shoot yer guns, just not a "bushmans", ah well, hey I want an amp for my geetar, aint' going to happen, ah well, it's small potatos.
in all these school shooting the punks always steal the parents weapons. If your intruder is high on PCP yer gun may not stop him.
better home defense, FIRST put a 100lb sandbag at the dooor (keep another nearby) it takes time and noise to get through 200lbs (first responders could make it there in time) unscrew lightbulbs, get "night vision" mace and a sword, axe or sledgehammer.Last edited by LWW; 12-21-2012 at 04:30 AM.

x2 when I go out of state I'm always surprised at the condition of some of the roads I find myself on. Loves me some 85mph speed limits.
It's the old "10 over" rule, normally you don't get a ticket unless you exceed 10+ mph over the limit. Having said that, state troopers don't screw with it and I've talked to peeps that got tickets for 2mph over in some 75 and 85 mph zones. Seems the "10 over" tolerance ends in the 70mph zones.
ACC already proved that this post was brain dead, but I'll just point out the car argument is stupid because the gun argument is stupid... that's the point. Banning guns is the same as banning cars. And quit saying you support the right to have guns, you're just a closet lib that's trying to infiltrate the other side for credibility... go ahead and admit it!

I haven't been down since they made that toll road. I remember on our way to Sabinas the highway was so skinny that buses coming the other direction would have one tire in the dirt and one tire a foot over in our lane. Our tires would be fully in the dirt trying not to get killed. Those buses did like 80+ too, they would fly! It was tough pulling the flatbed trailer full of gear, holy sheet man we would watch our trailer fenders come within an inch of those buses.

Cars v guns is a terrible example. People don't shoot guns for hours a day every day in proximity of 1,000 other people shooting guns for hours a day every day.
6. Atlanta – Interstate 285 in both directions between I-75 and I-85. Home to six major interstates, Atlanta is a major checkpoint for driving destinations across the Southeast. Interstate 285 is the busiest of Atlanta’s interstates with an astounding 2 million daily drivers – mix in holiday travelers and shoppers and frustration will be cooking in Atlanta.B: 285

I might be mistaken, but in the assault weapon bill, they include semi auto handguns as assault weapons, at least, I know one of the old forms of the bill did. They are now just lumping them all together without anyone know any better.
The other thing that people fail to see is that guns aren't the deadliest method used in mass murders. Other methods, including explosives, planes etc, have caused more deaths than guns have in mass murders. A gun is actually an inefficient method. One party system; Most Republicans are Democrats, but no Democrats are Republicans.
