    Chinups or bicep curls?

i've received many different answers to whether chinups(palms facing you) are more effective than barbell curls for BUILDING MASS. Some of my friends say barbell curls are better for mass, and chinups are better for toning muscles. Others say the opposite. What's the deal here? which is more effective for building mass?

BB curls are THE best for building bicep mass... chin ups are still useful though...

wrong. BB curls hit your inside head of your biceps too much.
DB curls are much better IMO

Just started training, but from what I've read, the question when someone asks this is usually answered with this:

What is going to produce more muscle mass? 100 lb. Barbell bicep curls (isolation movement) - or weighted chin-ups (a compound movement) with 100 lbs. plus body weight.

I do both barbell curls and chin-ups. But I'm a beginner, so take my advice with a grain of salt.

I like DB a lot too, but it is pretty widely accepted that BB curls produce the most overall mass gains...

From what I hear BB curls are the 'best'. But rather than choose one or the other, try to use both BB and DB in your workout. Best of both worlds.

chin ups cause its a compound lift, and you benefit most from compound lifts.

Depends on if you mean bicep mass or total mass. For biceps, I assume curls would be the better choice. Overall, chinups would do a lot more for you.

Chins IMO. They've given me the best gains anyway.

But really you should be doing both. Also, do some close grip BB curls to add mass to your outer biceps, most people's are lacking.
