Well, I was wondering how many grams of BCAA supplements you consume per day, seeing as I've searched and found some very conflicting answers.

About tree fiddy.
I take 1/2 scoop of Xtend intra-workout. That is all my consumption. I don't believe all this BCAA hype. I feel like it's companies' marketing that brainwashes people into thinking they NEED BCAAs or else they won't get teh gainz.++ Positive Crew ++

I tend to stick around 3-4 servings of 5g each during the day. With 2 of these servings being pre and post workout.

I think it applies to all supp. not just BCAA, you often see threads with people asking which supplement they NEED for this or that and if they NEED anything else with their stack. Some are good additions when you have training and diet down.
Personally i like 10g-15g intraworkout.

I just take one scoop of Scivation Xtend intra workout on training days, and 5g Glutamine on off days with a solid protein diet.. That does it for me

Are you talking about supplementing with BCAAs, or just BCAAs in general? Cuz BCAAs are in your protein supplement already.
You DO NEED BCAAs in order for protein synthesis to occur. That is non-debatable.
As for the amount, you need to take 3.2-4.4 grams of Leucine every 4-6 hours in order for maximum protein synthesis (MPS) to occur. Different protein sources have different amounts of leucine, so you need to check your supplements to see how much Leucine is in them. Also look for different leucine contents in whole foods.
For instance, it takes 43 grams of chicken protein just to get the minimum 3.2 grams of leucine for MPS. It takes 34 grams of milk protein.
If you want maximum growth, make sure you get 3.2-4.4 grams of leucine every 4-6 hours (whether that's from direct BCAA supplementation or just from the leucine in your other protein supplements).

Not including what I get from food/protein powder.
I take one serving of Aminocore and mix it in a gallon of water to drink during the day. If I am working out I take a second serving and mix it with 30oz water and drink during the workout. That is 16g total I think, plus the other ways of getting them

i don`t know how much i get per day when you include food, whey, and whatnot, but if we`re talking about bcaa supplement-wise...:
xtend, hands down.
intra-workout.
personally for me: 1 scoop intra during bulks .. 2 scoops intra during cuts.

It depends
"offseason" I use maybe 3-6 scoops
pre contest or when I am reducing bodyfat for a ripped goal 5-12 scoops
of course it depends if I am training that day or not. When I train I use use before and after
I use recoverpro

43g is only ~1.5oz. A typical chicken breast is 6oz or more. There's no need to drink BCAA's at meal time if that is what you are trying to say.
I normally just drink a couple scoops RecoverPro while I'm working out. Typically I do 45-hour lifting followed by 45-hour cardio, so I do feel there is some benefit in there to help spare muscle and get my muscles recouping. Atomic 7, RecoverPro, and Xtend are all solid choices depending on what you are looking for. At the moment just BCAA's fit what I need so I use RecoverPro.

old post but so important and so misleading (some posts)
BCAA in free form imho and proven researches concur, are MORE efficient than stuffing yourself with 1kg of meat or 4oz of protein powder
and not taxing the liver nor the kidneys! it also helps reducing in particular abdominal fat !
5gr bcaa (make sure you have also small amt of B6 vit) 3-4 a times a day is very efficient. BCAA make 40% of muscle protein also.
so imho get 3meals and a shake, and several takes of bcaa, like upon waking up, bedtime and around the workout of course.

BCAAs are pretty much worthless considering you get more than enough through your current protein sources.

A little question about BCAA'S...for girls!
Just want to know how many BCAA's I should take daily. I already take 1 scoop of Xtend. But I also have some in my ON protein, so if I take two shakes per day, do I take too much BCAA's ? Thanks a lot

No, it's fine. Optimum Whey only has like 6 grams of BCAAs. I can't imagine any negative side effects from taking a lot of BCAAs. If there are any negative side effects, you are not taking enough to experience them.

Also, I thought it was Muscle Protein Synthesis (MPS)?
Corrected*
All of this talk about how much BCAAs daily.....Focus on hitting your daily protein intake first, and then worry about BCAA supplementation. The key to BCAA supplementation is that the dose of leucine is adequate enough to trigger (MPS), which typically is not needed unless training while fasted, fasting for extended periods between meals, or when dieting in a caloric deficit.Last edited by bdillingham5; 05-11-2016 at 12:46 PM.
