Hey, friends! I just joined bb.com about a week ago, and I'm completely HOOKED! This site is fantastic!
You can read about me on my bodyspace page, but I am 36 years old, a mother of 2, and wife to a gorgeous Air Force man. I've NEVER been in shape, EVER! I've pretty much always carried around an extra 20-40 pounds, and usually have felt...well NOT SEXY.
Until just recently. I dropped 28 pounds by eating clean and training HARD! And I feel healthier and sexier than ever. Never would I want to go back to my 20's, eating crap and sitting on my butt. NEVER!! I am teaching my children how to eat right and exercise, and that makes me feel like a fantastic Mom!!
And now that I've gotten the taste for fitness, my dreams have now become goals. I want to compete! I want to model! I want it all!! Am I asking too much?! Well, we'll see!
See you all around the forums!!

My official introduction
"Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God--this is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will." Rom. 12:1-2

Kim,
Welcome - and congratulations on your amazing transformation. I'm sure a lot of folks would benefit from hearing more on your eating and training habits that brought about these changes.
All the best!

I feel exactly the same way - my kids are 7 and 9 and they eat cleaner than any other kids around! not quite as clean as I do but they fully understand why I do this and why we eat this way....it's so cute - my son who is 7 will pick up boxes at the grocery store, read the label and shout, "look mom, only 5 grams of sugar" or "this was has high fructose corn syrup" haha - the other "mom's" look at me with wonder...then I look at my grocery cart comparted to theirs and wish they would do the same...
Congrats on your progress!! I know how hard that road is, been there myself...Good luck with your model goals - I do not think they are out of reach for you at all. go for it all!
Cheers!

Welcome. the +35 section is the right place. Friendly and informative.
Now once you get settled in, lets see some program data! But those who fight for right must remember St. Augustine's sage words,
"right is right even if no one is doing it...and wrong is wrong even if every one is doing it!"

Congratulations on your transformation, Kim, and welcome to the >35 crowd!
I taught my 5 year old daughter about macronutrients, sugar and the glycemic index rating of carbs. She now knows why oatmeal is good for her in the morning but, like most kids, she still craves sugar. The difference is that she understands why she likes sugar. That kick-in-the-pants burst of energy from high-glycemic index carbs is fun, fun, fun!
