I can't chime in when it comes to squats before the classic lifts, but my coach varies it up every now and then with overhead work either before or after my classic lifts. Some days he'll have me OHS before anything, some days he has me do it last to "make you fight for it more" lol. He has some lifters squat before their classic lifts though, so I think it's a matter of what goal you're trying to achieve first.

i tried front squatting before the classic lifts but it just made me slow. maybe its cuz i didnt really get accustomed to it yet though.
wtf im still in pain but i can front squat and move around. any pulling and only when i really stretch, flex an awkward position or sit too long does it hurt. its really deep in the pelvic girdle, right under the illac crest..........(july 23, 2010)

Couple of things to note here.
1. It's insane to evaluate a lifter's technique by a limit snatch. Every lift will be different with all lifters.
2. It's unfair to say that he has a bad technique when he struggled with the lift because he is strong enough (a positive quality in the lifter) to put up a fight. Would it be better if he were weaker and gave up as soon as the bar is 1/16" off course? No it's not.

Yes but I am a raw noob myself so not so much on the coaching. I train with some reasonably experienced lifters at the RLY though if you're close to DT. Also you should get in on this: https://www.********.com/events/506609186037943/

I did something to my lower back, not sure what, a couple weeks ago in training and its been holding me back ever since. Can't really say I feel pain but its just discomfort which means that I have trouble pulling heavy (which means that a weight I used to power clean I'm now full cleaning) and I'm really being held back in squatting.
In fact it got so bad today that my top set of bench press (which was done after) was with a weight 5kg higher than my heaviest C&J and front squat for the day. What have I become?Strength + Speed = Power
If you never fail, you aren't truly pushing yourself to the limit. If you never push yourself to the limit, how do you know what you're truly capable of?
