Lol. They have been saying the person saying the hello goodnight chit knew what was going on since yesterday. I was watching CNN for hours last night and they all kept mentioning it. That Barbara Star or whatever her name was never mentioned sources, but I'm sure she has some reliable sources to keep mentioning it.

While it may well be that a pilot/the pilots took the plane off course, I don't see what the importance of "all right, good night" is. It sounds ominous out of context, but would seem like a pretty standard thing to say when leaving a particular ATC area on an overnight flight.

Reminds me of when the government shot down the TWA800 flight in 96. Maybe this plane was hijacked by Iranians to get the 20 Freescale employees to reveal secret US DoD. It's a good as theory as any other.

No. Unless there is still debris on the surface and she's cruzin on the surface. Standard sonar isn't going to help in this situation. They have been used in the past but it's just another set of eyes.

For what? It's been over a week what are they going to pick up? The hull mounted active isn't going to help in that water depth especially since it's more than likely in a billion pieces. They would need an active towed array that's designed for searching the bottom of the ocean and it would be done from a ship. Subs don't TOW ACTIVE arrays.

My bad didn't know the black boxes "pinged", disregard. I was involved in two searches for a civilian helo and small plane and aside from spending days on the surface there wasn't much we could do.

Would be more efficient to send one of our SURTASS ships from the SCS or Gulf. They could cover the entire area in a couple of days and more thoroughly than any sub.

The NTSB has evidence that the transponder was shut off just before the "All right, good night" call was said. That tells investigators that a) there was no struggle in the cockpit when the transponder and other tools were shut off and b) whoever made that "All right, good night" call was responsible for the plane turning and consequently, turning off the transponder and the acars system. They're not sure who made that call, but whoever did is certainly who was in control of the airplane. That's why the entire investigation is focusing on the pilot and the crew.

That's what I understood listening to the aviation experts on TV.
