I don't think that's too conservative. When I started TM, I had most recently hit 325x5x3 on LP, and I repeated 325 for my first ID. I know others have started close to 10% off their 5RM. Even though I didn't really back it down, I do believe that is the smarter approach, take at least a few weeks to get acclimated to the volume before you're attempting to set new 5RM PR's.

Keep up the recovery, big man. Getting those bugs that linger around is never fun for anyone.
Looking forward to some heavy squats again!~~~~~~~~~~

Ended up taking the rest of last week off, still can't shake this cold, hacking up some nasty looking stuff I just repeated VD from last week, did my squats, and got out of there. Will do Macenko 7A on Wednesday.Powerlifting Log - http://tinyurl.com/jshaw5

Texas Method Recovery Day
Barbell Squat:
45 lb x 5 reps (+36 pts)
135 lb x 5 reps (+66 pts)
195 lb x 3 reps (+79 pts)
245 lb x 5 reps (+138 pts)
245 lb x 5 reps (+138 pts)
First time doing a recovery day in a while. Very easy, maybe 2 min rest between sets.
Macenko Bench 6A
Barbell Bench Press:
45 lb x 10 reps (+42 pts)
95 lb x 5 reps (+50 pts)
135 lb x 3 reps (+53 pts)
165 lb x 8 reps (**** pts)
202.5 lb x 6 reps (+110 pts)
230 lb x 4 reps (+114 pts)
242.5 lb x 3 reps (+109 pts)
247.5 lb x 2 reps (+95 pts)
230 lb x 4 reps (+114 pts)
215 lb x 5 reps (+113 pts)
I took all of last week off from benching due to this cold I can't seem to shake. It really sucks too because I felt like I was just starting to hit a groove at just the right time. I decided to repeat week 6 since 7A calls for 2 triples at 95% and there's no way I'm ready to jump right into that after a week off. The formerly mentioned groove is gone, everything felt off. Just hit my reps and got out of there.Powerlifting Log - http://tinyurl.com/jshaw5

Yeah that's what I'm hoping for. I felt like I was in a good groove to hit at least 300 at the end of Macenko, hopefully I can get that back within the next few weeks.
Very slowly. Still blowing some neon yellow stuff out of my nose, but the cough is much better. We'll see how much better I really feel when 385 lbs is on my back tomorrow morningPowerlifting Log - http://tinyurl.com/jshaw5

Goodluck on ID man. I just got the flue myself hours after my ID. I'm almost certain the DLs didn't facilitate.

Texas Method Intensity Day
Barbell Squat:
45 lb x 5 reps (+36 pts)
105 lb x 5 reps (+54 pts)
155 lb x 5 reps (+75 pts)
230 lb x 3 reps (+100 pts)
310 lb x 2 reps (+145 pts)
385 lb x 5 reps (+355 pts) PR vid
This was tough as hell, felt like a lot of GM action, but still hit all my reps. I can now officially squat as much as I can deadlift
Macenko Bench 6B
Barbell Bench Press:
45 lb x 10 reps (+42 pts)
95 lb x 5 reps (+50 pts)
135 lb x 3 reps (+53 pts)
165 lb x 8 reps (**** pts)
202.5 lb x 6 reps (+110 pts)
230 lb x 4 reps (+114 pts)
242.5 lb x 3 reps (+109 pts)
242.5 lb x 3 reps (+109 pts) vid
230 lb x 6 reps (+133 pts)
215 lb x 8 reps (+128 pts) vid
Felt better today. Not quite as strong as couple weeks ago, but I'm getting back in the groove.
Sumo Deadlift:
135 lb x 5 reps (+66 pts)
225 lb x 3 reps (+97 pts)
295 lb x 1 reps (+106 pts)
365 lb x 5 reps (+310 pts) vid
UGLY!!! Quads were fried after the first 2 reps, ended up SLDLing the last few reps. Next week I'll be doing Macenko 7B on a separate day from ID squats and deadlifts, hopefully that will help keep me a little fresher for these.
Vids to come later tonight.Powerlifting Log - http://tinyurl.com/jshaw5

Firstly, awesome job on the squat PR!
I actually have a similar problem when it comes to my heavy sets of squats (although mine looks worse than yours when I look at your video). Do you know if there is a body imbalance which causes this, or is it more of a form issue? I google'd "hips raising faster than chest/shoulders during squats" and "squats turned GMs" multiple times, and have been getting varying results. Care to chime in on this?My Lifting Log: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=154479513
