It appears as if he was not as big or full as last year, Shawn improved while he in my opinion regressed from the physique he brought last year.
Fourth however is not 'overlooked' by any standards.

Dennis was peeled from the front, but that condition doesn't help him from the back (glutes & hams) and he sacrifices the fullness he had in 2013. Wolf looks best when he's just full and big.

    Exactly.

    Maybe overlooked means won?

Coz like, he'll never win the Olympia. Not even sure why a dude with one calf won the Arnold over Rhoden.

Wouldn't say he was overlooked, I had him in 3rd over Rhoden but it was fairly close between them. Could've went either way.

Close contest, but Wolf edged it for me. Should have won it in 2012 too.

Loved the side chest variation he hit in the 14 AC.

Literally the first thing that came into my mind when I read the thread title.

    Bonac was over looked.

    Dennis was not.

I think his placing was fair. He seems to be a really nice guy and his size and mass are definitely awesome but his physique just has no flow to me. The high lats with the wide quad sweep (the shape of his sweep is a little off as well) and then finishing with peg legs just doesn't look appealing at all to me. He's also got that lat imbalance and somewhat overpowering shoulders/traps from the back (esp. the BDB).

    Conditioning was good.
He was flat though. Didn't have that typical Wolf size.

Agreed! After seeing the HD pics in the other thread though, I feel Rhoden was closer to Wolf than I originally thought (even though I still got Wolf ahead of Rhoden). I think it's hard though cus their physiques are so different. Apples and oranges.

Based on last year, I had wolf 3rd. Although I like Shawn's physique more, wolf was way more peeled.

Wolf looked great ! It was a toss up in my opinion. The obvious things that held him back were his lack of muscle shape compared the guys above him, his conditioning was great but his ab genetics aren`t the best. He`s probably the highest placing Olympia competitor in history with calves that bad. One is small and one is torn off the bone. The shape of his arms never helps him and like everyone else said he was flat for his usual standards especially in the chest. His color almost never helps him either. With all that said it still could have gone either way with him and Rhoden because Rhoden could`ve been leaner.

    His lats are too high.
    His torso is too long.
    His abs are washed out.
    His lower back is blah.
    And his muscle separation sucks.

I don't get the fascination with Wolf. Not an aesthetic physique at all.

The placing he got doesn't imply that he got overlooked. All three guys ahead of him were better! If anything i would have given him 5th and Dexter 4th!

I didn't really like Wolf this year. He really needs to come in full because of his structure (tall and high lats), he doesn't have the luxury of coming in flat. His midsection was a bit bloated, his known calf problem, his right bicep looked weird/flat (maybe torn), asymetries in all over his body. The thing that saved him was his on-point conditioning. Last year he was much better.

I think his placement was fair given his problems.

To be honest I was really disappointed with his showing, last year he did really great and I got hyped that he could improve even more! But maybe he is starting to regress, the asymmetries, flatness, bigger gut are a clear signs of this unfortunately.

I've seen his gut worse. His problem was fullness as you said, I don't see him regressing

You could argue that perhaps he could have placed slightly higher. But 4th isn't bad for Dennis at all.

4th place at the biggest competition in the world and 50th anniversary show is hardly overlooked, especially when you look at who places 1st-3rd...

Exactly. People are like whoa, he placed 4th, why was he overlooked? Well, look who placed 1st, they can't get everything (or anything) right

The champion of Arnold Classic historically is the biggest challenger to the title. Since, obviously Kai is the biggest challenger, Dennis was expected to be in top 3 even top 2 before the competition took place.

He should have been next to Kai, Phil and Shawn first day. Even if he was flat, he was the most shredded and probably the biggest of them all. He deserved to be compared in that first callout. In a way, he was overlooked and I thought he deserved 3 rd but I m still happy that he already accomplished 3 rd place and an AC win in his career. I know he is happy with those achievements too

I don't get the fascination with Wolf. Not an aesthetic physique at all.

In that case then Branch Warren should even have made it into the Olympia LOL he doesnt posses a Aesthetic part on his body.

Lol kids always have these pathetic excuses for why Kai or Wolf doesn't win 1st Olympia and only AC etc.

    "His torso is too long"
    "He phucked a fruit"

While Abless Narrowlympia reigns supreme with perfect scores weighing 40-50 lbs under Wolf and others weight. LOL, ya
