Yeah, that could be it too. Try it both ways and do whatever allows you to have a better workout.

Good luck with 200 on Monday, you'll nail it!

I've found myself having a little more success with some of my accessories by not trying to really progress on them. Sometimes the pressure of always doing more gets to you - especially when you are trying to do it after setting squat and deadlift PRs.

agreed I am not trying to add to much to SS since it can cause problems with the bigger lifts but I like chins. I don't know if doing abs is really necessary either but I think it helps my squat out a little bit in regards to keeping my stomach tight and not over arching.

Thanks man, I'm pumped to hit the weights! I have most of tomorrow off I might go mid day instead of a night like I have been and see if it helps my energy levels any. You might be right with the accessory work. I always try to better myself on chins maybe I should really focus on the movement and nail the form.

I'm going to try to borrow a camera tomorrow and film myself again I like having the videos in here and it is a huge help being able to see myself and the movements during the reps. Also hope I can get this damn camera I bought fixed haven't found the time to call them about it yet.

Starting Strength Week 12 Day 1

    Weight 158.0

    Squat
    1x5 45
    1x5 95
    1x3 135
    1x2 175
    3x5 worksets 200

Notes: Just destroyed 200 today. All sets felt awesome all reps were a fair speed bar path felt great really got my hip drive nailed down today. Could not be more pleased with how this went. Everything stayed tight and upright throughout as well I didn’t feel like my chest feel forward at all.

    Bench
    1x5 45
    1x5 95
    1x3 145
    3x5 worksets 175

Notes Last set was a tad slow on the final two reps but I am happy with bench today as well. Looking forward to 180 I think I can nail it!

    Rows
    3x5 worksets 130

Notes: Felt better than 125 did last week. I am pumped to hit 1 plate on this. I think 135 will match my PR for reps on rows. Always love hitting different + plate milestones I shouldn’t have any problems with 135 Friday.

    Chins
    2x8 BW

Absolute grinder on the last rep form was definitely **** on that rep to. Felt a little strange digressing on chins but I haven’t done them for 2 weeks either so I shouldn’t be too surprised.

    Summary

Really really happy with this session, I really hit my stride today if that makes any sense. Weight felt great and my form held together well on everything. Looking forward to 205 squat on Wednesday and progressing with my OHP. My biceps were absolutely fried after this session I had a hard time even lifting a glass of milk when I had supper tonight, that was kind of a strange feeling.

I was actually surprised this went as well as it did Sunday was not a day of rest, I did a ton of yard work at my house and my grandparents house. I also played about 2.5 hours of basketball so I figured my squat would suffer, oh how wrong was I! I also forgot my music today so that was kind of a bummer but it didn't matter I was really focused today.

A little EDM for those who like it

Thanks Woody, that is what I am shooting for but I have always struggled with this weight on squats and have yet to get passed 210ish so I hope to break the mold by next week.

Thanks Pete! You are certainly right with chins. My weight has been all over the place the last few weeks so I am unsure of where it actually stands. I need to start recording it again, I was just a little surprised how hard chins were but I know what to shoot for next session. I also did a lot slower descend with the chins trying to stay controlled all the way down so I think I got tired quickly doing them that way.

Starting Strength Week 12 Day 2

Weight 158.2 (was 160.4 yesterday so I am all over the place lately)

    Squat
    1x5 45
    1x5 95
    1x3 145
    1x2 175
    3x5 worksets 205

Notes: Killed it again today. Got some serious depth too which felt good. I had one bad rep on my 3rd set where I came out of the hole with more drive on my right side then on my left. This weight doesn’t feel bad at all though my bar speed is pretty good through all sets so I am hopeful to smash though 210 Friday.

    Over Head Press
    1x5 45
    1x5 55
    3x5 worksets 115

Notes Screwed up my warmup a little. I ended up putting 115 on the bar thinking it was 105 and did a couple reps, realized what I did so I just did the set of 5 and counted it as my first work set. This was pretty easy, the 3rd set felt the best of the 3 to be honest but set 1 I was expecting a lighter weight. Should be able to make some moves towards a new PR on this soon.

    Deadlift
    3x5 worksets 265

Notes: I couldn’t remember what I did last time but I thought it was 260 so I did 265 this time (Edit: Whoops just read my last entry with DL and I did 255 haha). This was a pure grind through and through. The first rep was a bitch and all reps following that one didn’t get much better. I really tried to work on my form as best I could and I felt like I hit all the right areas when I got done. Traps were just burning after this set.

    Leg Raises
    3x10

    Summary

Pretty pumped this workout went well. Was up at 5 this morning too and didn’t feel the least bit tired when I went in for this session. Squats are going along really well right now which is a great feeling. I have had my struggles with them and I think I am getting in a good groove now. OHP is also getting back up there maybe I can get to a plate before this stalls again? The leg raises at the end were pretty tough my legs actually felt tired while doing these which made it hard to get all the reps but I did it anyway.

Happy Thanksgiving to all who celebrate it! Enjoy your 1 day mega bulk, I know I will!

Thanks Woody! got a good head of steam right now hopefully it last for a while. The DL is 1x5. I usually don't do any warmups either since it's the last exercise. Every once and a while I will do a little bit of lighter weight before my workset though but it doesn't really do anything for me that I can see or feel. I like linking up to the workset and just going for it.

    That was a great session!

You're getting real strong. Its great to see you handling weights with less discomfort than before even tho they are heavier weights than before.

ALMOST AT 2 PLATE SQUAT!! It always feels awesome to throw on another plate.

Solid OHP, and the DL thing is just awesome; more poundage than your normal progression and you still killed it. Thats how you do it

    Happy Thanksgiving! Stay safe!

Starting Strength Week 12 Day 3

Weight DN weigh in (scared after Turkey Day)

    Squat
    1x5 45
    1x5 95
    1x3 145
    1x2 175
    3x5 worksets 210 Matched PR

Notes: Went well not great though. I felt like some reps I was just falling into the hole and then working extra hard to get out but most were decent at least. I had one rep in my third set that I had a pretty nasty good morning followed up by a rep that wasn’t as deep as I would have liked. Got all my reps though going to enjoy 2 days off!

    Bench
    1x5 45
    1x5 95
    1x3 135
3x5 worksets 180 (Matched my last PR before stalling)

Notes This was more of a grinder than I was expecting. The second set was by far the best and the fastest bar speed. Third set I was close to failing on the last rep I don’t know why but I lost all my thightness and one leg slipped out so I obviously wasn’t getting the right leg drive.

    Rows
    3x5 worksets 135 PR (I think)

Notes: Still pretty easy going to keep going up on this. If I am getting some shoulders targeted with rows am I doing something wrong? I know I could try to bend over further at the waist but the weight is getting to the point where I can’t get over to far because it shifts my center of mass out to far and I feel like I will fall over.

    Summary

This session was kind of a grind. I have been getting up early to go out hunting with the family and of course every one is in town for Thanksgiving so I have been going out some nights this week. Haven’t gotten drunk but have not been getting enough sleep lately either. Not as happy with my squats today, the form didn’t feel great like it did on Monday and Wednesday. Good news is I found another camera around the house going to try and see how the video feature works. Really want to make sure every lift still looks okay.

Hope everyone had a good Thanks Giving day, or mega bulking day as it should be called.

Sorry the form wasn't feeling so good on all the workouts man. Seems like it was just due to all the other things you got going on in life. And on top of that YOU STILL HIT PRS ON ALL YOUR EXCERCISES(even with your leg drive slipping on your bench)!

I'd have to see your form to really give any sort of tips so now that you found a camera get to uploading the vids!

    Enjoy the 2 days off!

I like linking up to the workset and just going for it.
This threw up a red flag for me. Sure your muscles are warm before you start your deads, but your CNS is cold to them. I would at the very least to a 225x5 and then a 315x1 or315x2 before a 365x5 set. I've noticed that if I don't do deadlift warmups I struggle getting my chest and ass moving at the same time - my ass shoots up first and then it's all back from there. My 2¢ anyway.

Nice work getting 210. The train to PR-ville leaves tomorrow!

Yeah I should probably do a warmup scheme for DL it certainly can not hurt. Probably would help my form a lot considering how bad it has been previously. Thanks for the suggestion PG!

Well I might have "dun goofed". I was playing basketball last night and landed on on someone else foot and rolled my right ankle. Hurts like a mother today, I can walk on it but I can not really turn it one way or the other while putting weight on it.

Here is a little comparison, right ankle is pretty swollen especially on the outside of my ankle.

I know hairy feet or peace. I'm really pissed today was suppose to be a squat PR day but now I don't know if that is going to happen. Should I try for a session today, or should I skip it and see how things feel by my second session this week?
