Thanks mirror.
Thanks, now if I can squat and deadlift like fittofattofit...........................
I like being bigger. Chubbier.........not so much.
Back atcha on the happy Vets Day. Lots of us gave some. Some gave all. Very humble here.
Hey, I found that picture. Kinda faded now.
The back says, Tent City "B" Tan Son Nhut, Viet Nam '67. I barely remember it. 48 years ago.

Ha, the only thing it ever got me was getting to hump more ammo. Not a big deal back then. I'm guessin' about 170#.
Closest I ever got to a tan was a funky looking orange.

Squats - felt heavy today. Last couple 205 reps weren't
deep enough. Flexibility isn't what it used to be. Just
happy I can still squat.
Bench - light day today. I'll go heavier Fri. Swapping
heavy/light on the compounds.
BOR - got 8 decent reps on my last set. Felt good about that.
Skullz and curls - blah, blah blah..........................
Diet - Mom's home made apple pie and chocolate chip cookies
did me in last week. Guilty as charged.
Happy Veteran's Day tomorrow to all who serve/served
the "Green Machine'.

Hi Larry Had go back a few pages to catch up. Still great training going on. Inspiring as always. Love the pic as a young man. And not looking too shabby as an older man either. Sorry to read about the loss of your brother.
Keep up the great work.My workout journal

Thanks Andrew. Now only if I didn't have the hips of an old woman.
Appreciate your thoughts jonny. I miss that young guy in the picture. Stronger and much better looking.
Thank you and back atcha.

Pause squats - dropped as far into the hole as I could. Working
on flexibility. Was squatting wide. Moved the stance in and
felt less hip tightness.
OHP - real happy with the 140x5. Only got 2 last time at 140.
Deads - haven't been pushing much here. Just got in some
reps.Last edited by ljimd; 11-12-2014 at 10:33 AM.

Don't complain ... aren't those old woman hips there for you to rest your hips on
Paused squats were the things that I did to eventually get deeper on my squats .. I'm so much more flexible than I was
Your OHPs are really strong Larry .. goes with the strong bench pressing"Better to wear out than rust out!"

I was disappointed to see OH pressing kind of fall out of favor after it was
dropped from the Olympics and powerlifting gained favor (benching). In
many ways I feel it is the equal of benching if not better for power. Just my
opinion.

Dead bench - 1 pin off chest. 240 went easy. Probably has
a few #'s left in the tank.
Regular bench - chased some reps.
Squat - closed up my stance hoping to put more emphasis
on the quads. Feels more hip friendly. I'll know more as I
ramp up the wt.
BOR - chased some reps.

Overhead strength FTW! I actually think that a clean and jerk is a great measure of overall body strength and power. I love the oly lifts and the biggest thing I miss after all my shoulder ops is that I can't work overhead
Nice work on the dead bench .. strong press at 240. It's good that you've found a better position for your hips with the squats ... I'd expect that the narrower stance would be more hip friendly"Better to wear out than rust out!"

I have a feeling that you'll find a way to recover your overhead strength and flexibility. Yep......
I'd love to do some oly work but I don't have the room for it here in the home
gym. My squat snatch would probably be truly funny to watch.

Barbell on the floor. I raise the incline on my bench to arms length, lay face down,
set my feet, then chest against the pad and pull to the bottom of the bench.
I try to do my reps Pendlay style with a complete reset after each rep. I found
myself getting sloppy and not pulling to the bench on the heavier sets if I didn't
reset. I still do warmups with a steady cadence without a reset.
I go back to chest supported when I get sloppy on regular BOR's.
Thanks for asking.

I live in hope .. it won't ever be heavy though
In for the vids of you putting a hole in the ceiling and then destroying the floor when you dump the bar
I like to see the floor presses and the chest supported rows ... those are all very heavy. I've tried floor presses before and found them very challenging and chest supported rows are the biz .... can't cheat on those and they really get the lats pumping"Better to wear out than rust out!"

I'll see if I can get some vids done. Not my strong suit (can barely get pics up),
but if the wife helps it can happen.
I like the chest supported row as it keeps the body english/cheating at a
minimum but at the same time I must have turned the heavier reps into
incline shrugs as evidenced by severe trap doms the next day and nothing
in the lats. Focus focus.
I had wanted to try the floor press so I set the bottom pin on my cage and
crawled under. Basically turned into a "dead" floor press with a short ROM.
I don't think I'm going to use them.
