i agree, 15g of fat is far too low, i also noticed that for a calorie deficient diet that training volume seemed high compared to recovery abilities, no matter how much anti-catabolic supps being taken. I would suggest reading laynes articles on how to cut up and diet down for a contest.

this is one of the worst prep diets I've seen in a long time, especially from someone who should know better. No wonder you're getting sick and all that. Fat is Way too low, carbs too high, you're still eating SUGAR!!! Your macronutrient calculations are way off and I suggest you buy a calculator or learn to count your protein better.

It's not the size of the car you drive but the size of the arm out the window
Keep up the good work, you're a lion.

does anyone else find it strange that he's lost 17 lbs. in four weeks? Obviously water loss has a lot to do with it...but regardless i just think that seeing as how he wanted to be 190 at the end of 9 weeks...and hes now 191 five weeks out...that he's lost too fast and probably along with thtat fat/water some lean mass...or is this just me?

first of all if any of you have ever competed you wouldn't be saying this ****. everyone is different, who is to say that he can't eat the carbs he eats and still lose fat. look at the pics, theres the evidence. and for the guy who wrote that he there is no way he lost fat the quick with out losing muscle must not follow the pros, lee priest loses up to 70 lbs of in a matter of a month or two...all i ahve to say is try to deit that hardcore and see whats its like... than make an opinon!!!

I agree with your first statement about the carbs...thats all about how the individual handles them and when and what kind are consumed...but i disagree with your second point...yes he has done this before but by no means is he a pro or on any of the anabolics or thyroid hormones many of the pros take prior to competition...and i also was not saying he did lose muslce seeing as how his lifting strength has stayed somewhat the same...i was just asking, because he was lean to begin with and studies have shown that leaner people that lose lots of weight in a short period of time are more likely to lose muscle than people with higher bodyfat levels with the same weight reduction, that it would not be unreasonable to assume that some of the weightloss was due to loss of muscle...that was my only poiint...that that it definitely happened, but may have, and was simply asking for opinions, not a lecture
Thanks

sorry to be making another post on this but im often bothered by people who think the more miserable they are on a diet the better it's working...the best diets are those that allow maximal fatloss and are not so draining on the body that they are almost impossible to stikckwith due to lack of energy...again, the effectiveness of a diet is not measured by how miserable one is while on it

I hate armchair philosophers
hey Chann you're a bit of a dick eh? anyway I'm not Swan's best friend or anything, in fact I'm competing against him in three and a half weeks. But man enough with the ego trip about "try hardcore dieting" okay, Swan was always ripped to **** till this year, and he if you don't agree with how he regains it, well that's just too bad isn't it. He won first overall in the junior divisions the first time he competed at 17, that's why he's a lion and you're not.
And you can lose alot of fat in little time, I've dropped from 225lbs to 195lbs in eight weeks and I'm positive I only lost maybe 2 pounds at the most of muscle. Sure that's twice as long as him but it's close enough to twice the weight. Just cause I chose low carb doesn't mean everyone should. I admit I did it the low carb route but that's just cause my body works best with high amounts of proteins, good fats and certain carbs. I know what will work for me and Swan knows what works for him, maybe you should go find out what works for you.
And man, all the posts you left really looks well, I don't want to be judgemental and label you...but ahh.....people tend to think stuff like that is a little weird if you know what I mean

look im not trying to get into an argument with you about swan's physique, in fact i admire it because its very similar to mine in many ways, only im a few inches taller. All i was suggesting is that because he claims to be so miserable on it that it may have to do with his super low fat intake. that was my only point. and by the way for the record, i was not the one speaking of hardcore dieting, that was a statement made back a few posts, i was simply replying to what had been previously stated. There is also no merit in your accusing me of being some armchair philosopher who knows nothing about training or dieting, seeing as how you kknow nothing about me. Also, seeing as how i am currently in the midst of a diet phase as well, i have to congratulate you on your fat loss. Nice work, im about 3.5 weeks in and have lost something in the neighborhood of 10lbs. I also am aware that you can lose lots of bodyfat in a short period of time with correct diet, training, supplementation, and the right kind of cardio program, namely HIIT in my opinion. So look i apoligize if it seemed as i was being overly critical of his diet/training techniques, he obvioulsy knows whats best for him, and sorry about coming of like a know-it-all dick, thats not how it is, i was just looking for opinions on the issues i had brought up

some people
just to respond to the know it all experts... let me know what the names of the competitions you've won and participated in. also, check out week 5 article, i think you'll like the pics... but hey, "he doesnt' know what he's doing" haha. guys, at least back up your comments with some sort of logical explanation. I addressed alot of you people in the closing paragraph of my week 5 article. hope you like it. meanwhile keep it up. and again, if you haven't competed, let me know what university you graduated from with a degree in kinetics, or nutrition. this isn't a game guys. try it yourself before ya knock anyone else. for those who have actually just expressed questions, thank you. i love that. i just hate the ones who post up something because they read it on the back of a supplement bottle, or in a magazine, don't back it up, and don't think that there is an explanation for everything i do. Thanks again to those who've actually competed before and know what i'm going through. keep training hard!!!! see you at the gym.
