cyst and bodybuilding

Randy

Hi I'm 23 and an avid bodybuilder my self. Recently I had my second cyst surgery (February 20, 2005). My first procedure (December 2000) didn't require a petroleum gauze stuffed in wound-area, this one does. Also for this surgery i am not taking prescription drugs like the narcotics, I'm just taking 2 tylenol every 5 hours or ib prophen. It took me 3 and 1/2 years to get my second surgery. i Thought i could wait it out, have it drain on its own and keep the area clean. Finally the pain and aggrivation got to me. I'm lying face down in my bed with the laptop on the ground. I'm glad people like you have posted info about there cyst. Thanks a lot. good luck to you and your family.

Pilonidal disease/sinus experience in Australia

G'day there Randy. Andrew from Australia here.

I'm a 22y/o athletic guy that's just had the operation (the Excision under general anesthesia) earlier on today. Have to say your article helps a bunch. The nurse advised that the pain will set in tomorrow which kinda sucks, but what’s a few days of work for a restricted social life if untreated?

The sinus didn’t actually cause any pain, the discharge itself was very annoying and reduced my exercise daily by half due to discomfort and social embarrassment.

Your personal story about your recovery will help me stay motivated and actually rest. Brave effort posting your story, and respect your honesty.

Cheers buddy, and good luck!

Don't be a dolt... Even if this were to have nothing to do with bodybuilding, it is well written and very informative.

My wife has had one of these for a while, it flares up for weeks at a time, and then slowly starts to go away for about a week. it's horribly painful from what I understand, and doing my own research on Google has not turned up any results for this problem... I myself am a SEO (search engine optimization) expert, so I know more than most people about how to search and receive accurate results from queries- but still no results.

Not knowing a name for the problem or the best way to describe it has been a major hurdle in diagnosing what it may be, but after reviewing this article I'm confident that it is a Pilonidal Cyst.

Like I said Randy, your article, and the time you invested in writing it means my wife will be more comfortable and we can finally see a surgeon about it. We both thank you very much...

For future reference for search engine users I am going to leave the following words, so that this article will show up when people search for the symptoms... painful tailbone bump cyst butt pimple tail

Once again- thank you and happy holidays.

It has been 2 years since my last surgery. I have fully recovered without any reoccurring problems.

The main treatment and maintenance is keeping it extremely clean.

That means after working out take a shower immediately and doing what ever possible to keep the area bacteria free.

I think I have one of these little buggers.

It was quite embarassing as the thing bursted while I was benching.

Sad to see that I'm going to have to have it surgically removed, that is if this is what I have. The symptoms seem to fit.

Has anybody had more recent experience with one of these? I had mine removed on Monday and had some questions regarding recovery.
