While I agree caffine is a great stimulant ( I cant function properly without it) I have heard of some research that says that caffine can inhibit up take of nutrients particularly vitamins and that coffe should only be drunk an hour away from supplements. Dunno if its true though

take with caution
i too am a coffe nut. i grind my own, and i have a keurig gourmet one cup at a time coffee maker. for a serious pre-workout boost i love a cup of coffee sweetened with about a tablespoon or two of honey. MAN does that give me a bolt of focus, energy and if not true, at least perceived strength. i definitely lift better.
that said, i caution people to be careful with it as well. i have found that anything more than about 2 or 3 cups a day and i'll start having side effects like anxiety, morning sluggishness and the like. i think also anyone with hypertension should consult a doctor before having much caffeine in their diet. like anything start of with a small amount, assess your results and gradually build to an amount that gives you benefits without side-effects, and i would strongly suggest everyone give themselves an occasional break from the caffeine. even if you are a heavy drinker and think it doesn't give you any problems, you might be surprised to find that after about 3 days off you feel calmer and more rested. i discovered this by accident on my own, and now about 3 or 4 times a year i'll take a 1 week "detox." not only do you feel good after a few days, but when you do reintroduce it, it takes much less to get the same effect.

I could like on coffee
I really like coffee, so of course I am happy when I am told that it's beneficial . . .
My favorite line from the article was "... which is great for you ladies in training." What exactly is a "lady in training"?

Pros & Cons
If you want the real story on coffee, weigh the pros and cons (the cons are non-existent).

I agree Caffeine is amazing at intensifying energy and focus. But this article is very manipulative and deceptive. It omits all the negative side effects. No mention of caffeine withdrawal, heart palpitations, Insomnia, Jitters, High blood pressure, tooth yellowing or the long term damage it does to your Adrenal's(Adrenal Fatigue).
Have you ever wished you had the same energy you did when you were younger? I remember when I could mountain bike 700 miles per week or exercise 8-12 hours a day and I did this for 15 years. Then for a decade things just seemed to slow down. My treadmill tests went from a world-class 20 METs to 6.8 METs. I had zero energy to do anything and the docs just said this happens with aging and to deal with the fact that I'm just getting older.
Eventually I found out that it was (Adrenal Fatigue) caused mostly by Caffeine. I never in my life even drank coffee but all those diet coke's and stimulants loaded with caffeine took their toll. Caffeine is great for an energy boost but it robs you down the road. Now that I've been repairing my Adrenal Fatigue my energy that died for a decade is coming back in full force. I'm 6'3" 45yrs old, 12%bf and 258 pounds. I can now run 5 miles at a good pace. I'm actually training for 1/4 and 1/2 triathlons. Three years ago I couldn't walk up a hill.
If you don't have the energy you did years ago read up on "Adrenal Fatigue" as most people that consume caffeine will eventually develop it to some degree.

BTW, I am almost certain that "andrenal fatigue" is not an accurate diagnosis for what you are experiencing. I am not sure that there have been any reputable medical studies that have demonstrated that such a thing exists, let alone that it could be due to consumption of caffeine.
Who told you that you had that particular problem? Did they have a vested interest in the diagnosis?

Thanks of asking. My cortisol was very low on numerous tests. Getting the cortisol back to normal fixed endless problems. It's a long story and much of it is missing in this thread your reading. It's a Sticky in the mens health of Meso-RX here http://forum.mesomorphosis.com/mens-...134243132.html I think you can even see pictures of me before and after.
I've gone from the a very energetic person to very weak with Congestive heart Failure and Asthma(stuck on oxygen at Hoag Hospital in Newport Beach) to no sign of any heart problems or any asthma and now back to training hard everyday.
The top doctors in the country spent $200,000 in medical treatment and tests over the years. I make very good money so it didn't bust my bank. It all started from caffeine consumption triggering adrenal fatigue and heart arrhythmia's. It was really a cascading chain reaction of body shutdown but I'm healthy again and it's very documented. I know countless other people that are in the same boat and getting better. My last blood tests were 16 vials of blood and everything in my blood work has been corrected (I could go into great detail but unless you're one of the best in the world then I see no point) People now think I'm over a decade younger then 45. I have several cardiologists and several endo's that I work with me. The guys that fixed everything are here at http://bhrcenter.com/site/index.html
If you look at MesoRX you can see I've never posted who treated me. I'm only posting this because you asked. I don't think I finished that thread as I've been posting to it for 2.5 years.
