Canadian, eh?
The noises made are comical at times, but they should be embarassed at all of that moaning and attention seeking racket. They spot inconsistantly and, at times, incorrectly, therefore dangerously. I would want neither as my training partner. I suggest looking into some new training systems to enable the both of them to pack on some beef. Decrease the number of sets, increase the reps, and follow through with supplement reviews when you state you will. Kudos on the effort, the shape, and leanness, but the audience needs to be entertained as well as informed. Laughing at the noises ain't cuttin' it for me.

Completely agreed. Not only are those noises embarrasing, but they decrease your power during the lift. Renoun strongman Bill Kazmaier was completely against the form of breathing displayed in this video - as most any experienced lifter would be.
I also agree on the reps and size critique by the previous poster. It's a shame Bodybuilding.com is posting videos of amatures trying to educate others when it is themselves that need the education. From what I've seen, the praise given has come from mostly sixteen year olds.
I wish John Berry and his partner the best, but they shouldn't be imitated.

would u both be so kind as to spend your free time filming your workouts and giving advice throughout so that i can see how the "pros" do it, but that would not be sufficent if you dont have a physique comparible to johns, i eagerly await your first installment along with photographs

Another round of haters is born
Kind of sad that the only critique you can come up with is that you don't like his breathing techniques...I understand you have a right to your opinion, but to me that is just nitpicking. Secondly, I am not a 16 year old kid that does not know better, I am a 26 year old strength and conditioning coach for a semi-pro lacrosse team, My educated opinion is that John does know what he's talking about. Just remember, if you ask 50 trainers their advice on one subject, you will get 50 different answers, and thats a fact.
Keep it up John, I look foreward to more videos.

Nice!
I can see how the first viewers came up with their opinions. It IS unnecessary to moan and groan out loud and it does actually take away energy from the lift. However, once past the "sticking point" exhaling and screaming does help increase the intensity and break through the "mental" part of the challenge of completing the last rep. So unless your screaming like a bitch from rep 1 I say go for it!
The amount of reps, sets, and "exact" technique is controversial because we all have different ranges we prefer, and even then I, myself, periodize my program every 3-6 weeks so that is just a matter of preference and shouldn't constitute a "good" or "bad" workout. It's just a different way of doing it. John even says he switches it up often.
I like the workout videos. I like the overall intensity...it pumps me up and makes me wish I was in the gym doing heavy benchs and squats. I like the way John and his partner joke around with each other and challenge each other to give it their all. I like the way they spot each other and communicate with each other from handing the weights off to the execution of the last rep. I've seen episodes 1- 3 and they are consistent.
I do think, however that John should follow up with his supplement/nutrition advice. He kind of just left it and never came back to it. All in all, it's a good video to expose yourself to. Check it out!
Ya boy B.
