Hi, first off, If this were the true recommendation, I would agree with you completely. I do think, however, that the calculations are generalized so that large dude coming from a bulking diet of consuming 5000 - 6000 calories, can have a full 71 days of caloric calculations laid-out for him to follow during his cutting phase. For those of us who are already consuming modest diets of 2000 cals or less, I suggest utilizing the advice but tweaking it a bit to reduce caloric intake by 150 cals per 11 days, instead of the 300 calorie cut recommended. No lower than your BMR! So in my case, I am a female, about 17% body fat, who want's to lose about 3% body fat, not necessarily the 6% loss the diet is designed for. I am starting out at 1800 cals/day and in 11 days, I am reducing my daily intake to 1650, then 1500 is where I stop to go on the maintenance diet!
Try this - I think this is probably why the readings go so low - it's just a general calculator and you have to apply common sense when using it for yourself. If I am wrong then it is nuts! Cause my calculations go all the way down to 200 cals a day. I highly, highly doubt this is the case recommended to anyone, unless you are a small bird!
