Once I got to this line, I lost interest:
"When you lift weights your muscle tissue is actually broken down (atrophied)."
I disagree with this sentence. Broken down muscle fibers are not atrophied. Atrophy is a wasting away of muscles or organs due to inactivity. It is entirely different from the breakdown of muscle fibers due to training, which leads to hypertrophy.
I really enjoy your articles Layne, but like I said once I got to that line I didn't bother reading the rest of the article.

I was lead to believe that the breakdown of any tissue is atrophy...if this is not the case I am sorry, however I spend alot of time researching that article...for one mistake I don't think it's fair to automatically assume the entire article is trash. O well, I suppose you can't please everyone.

it's an arguable mistake... because, if you happen to overtrain, and keep breaking down muscle fibers without giving them a chance to a recover, you lose muscle (obviously)... in other words, called atrophy.
read my review on the clayton south article (adding mass in the off-season) ... now there is an article with some bigger mistakes... and it looks very professional, but it's also very misleading... I hate that ****.

perhaps if i had said that working out was catabolic (causes tissue breakdown) that would have been a better term. I am sorry, I try to make my articles as error free as possible...if you will notice I only write about an article per month as I try to focus on quality rather than quantity.
Peace,
-Layne

That was a Minor mistake. There are degrees of atrophy, so you statement is not technically incorrect.
If she didn't read that entire thing, its her loss, It was very good.
Some one was taking good notes

Great start.Obviously well researched and loaded with information yet easy to read.Enjoyed it very much.
Can't wait for part three to see the diet itself!I just finished an 8 week bulking cycle with an andro stack,am now taking 8 weeks off before I hit another bulking phase.I'll admit my first round of results weren't all that exciting,so I'm pretty interested to see this system.

Thank you Gollum, hopefully parts II and III will be up by christmas, it's difficult for me to get any writing done at the moment however due to school. I hope everyone will not lose patience with me.
Peace,

Layne, I appreciate your apology and positive attitude towards my comment. Maybe I was a bit too harsh, I do notice that your articles are well-researched and well thought out. I believe you are one of the best writers on this site, as I stated in an email to Ryan (CEO) a while back. Keep up the great work. I will read the entire article, since you took all that time to write it.

Once again, thank you Alissa and thank you as well for your kind email. You have every right to be skeptical of what someone rights and you should be skeptical...writers should be held to a higher standard...I am always striving to improve in anything I do...so constructive criticism is always welcome.
Peace,

It seems to me that Layne Norton did get the muscle damage part after all.
Below is a portion of the article.
(Note: This is a grossly oversimplified unscientific explanation of muscular hypertrophy in response to training but effective for our purposes)

I'm sorry to bring up this 4 (almost 5) year old topic up but, where are the other two? Layne, you are my FAVORITE author, I have read most of your articles and I have to say, I could not agree more. Back to topic.. where are the other two parts to this?
