There are various cycles of low weight/high reps and High weights/low reps to avoid an adaptive response and for injury prevention. While heavyweights/low reps is probably the most efficient means to building mass that constant pounding on the joints may hinder long term training results. Building periods of lower weight training is especially critical for my target audience....the babyboomers.
