Good article. But, I have to add that you have to be very careful that your partner is "pulling their own weight", and not just letting you do everything. I had this happen to me... in an attempt to help my husband, I did everything, prepped food, weighed and portioned it, packed it in containers and cleaned up after. I drug him to the gym, reminded him to take supplements and protein shakes.
Basically, the only thing I didn't do for him was chew, swallow and put one foot ahead of the other on the treadmill. I also helped him deal with the emotional aspects... he would go into a flurry of depressions if he felt he was not "loosing weight" fast enough. I was in the latter stages of contest prep at the time, and this soon became very, very taxing on me and I had to stop.
I guess my message is... be on guard for the partner who takes unknowing advantage of you and becomes that negative energy that the article mentions.

"Ask what he/she loves to do? Ask when he/she was at his/her best physical shape? How did it make him/her feel? What kind of things did he/she enjoy then?"
Husband: "honey, when were you in your best physical shape?"
Wife: "are you saying I'm F-A-T!?!?!?!"
Husband: "no,no, (aw crud, there goes the weekend) um....what kind of things did you enjoy then?"
Wife: "(sobbing) you think I'm fat don't you?"
Husband: "uh....what do you love to do?"
Wife: "why are you asking me this?, why are you acting so weird? if you think I'm fat, why don't you just leave me for one of those little gym hotties I'm sure you like"
Husband: "uh...um....wanna work out?"
Wife: "wahhhh!" you don't love me any more! Your'e having an affair arn't you?"
Husband: "ugh..homina, homina"

Moronic
Seriously, this article and previous entries like it are just stupifyingly dumb. They show little comprehension of what real-life relationships are like, apart from that of two wannabe fitness models.

I love the fact that you need attention so bad that you felt you had to write this.

I need attention because I mentioned I found someone else's post humorous??? I didn't even mention a d@nm thing about the article by the way.... Look in the mirror bro. Seems you crave attention more than anyone that visits these forums.

I thought it was a good article and it highlights a very good point that if one person is into something and the other isn't eventually hidden jealousy and resentment could seep in. I've had it happen to me and trust me it can make living together with the other a living hell.

I couldn't do it work out with my wife me being a man I have a drastically different program than she does and honestly I would not be comfortable going to failure with her spotting me on the flat bench ,
Its my opinion that if a person doesn't have an obtainable goal set out for them self and the drive to get their on their own it wont happen.
