I am a registered dietitian; my teenage son left your site up on the computer and I feel I must comment on several issues. Re: egg whites--I assume you mean raw. Raw eggs, whole or just the whites, should not be consumed due to the risk of Salmonella. Also, ingestion of raw egg whites can lead to a deficiency of Biotin in the body. Biotin is a B-vitamin; deficiency can lead to nausea, vomiting, muscle pain, and scaly skin. Cooking the egg whites solves these problems. I can not believe you suggest that teens take ephidrine, which causes increased heart rate and blood pressure! The serious possible side effects of this stimulant are well known--I suggest you remove it from your article. On a positive note, the suggestions for plenty of water and veggies is great. The protein level is high--the body probably doesn't utilize much more than 2 grams per kilogram body weight per day. B. Jacoby, RD/LD
