It has been shown that in order for protein balance to become positive post workout, dietary protein, specifically the amino acid leucine, must be consumed. Learn how that happens right here.

I have been looking for more info on Leucine for a while now, and this was a very good article. Layne have you tried Leucine yourself? If so how/when did you take it? Results?
I was thinking about taking some while I workout, about 10g through out the workout. What do you think?
PU talked about this a while back but it seems like the topic died untill now.

I take it as a componant of my Xtend (product from scivation) as leucine only supplementation tends to deplete levels of the other 2 amino acids so it is important to keep them in balance. When I took around 40g BCAA per day (20g PW, 20g spread throughout day) I put on about 3 lbs of lean body mass in around 4 weeks and kept it on. I was pretty happy with it.

Thanks for the info Layne, I have been reading your articles and listening to your advise for the past couple of years, so again, thanks.
So basicly you are saying Leucine as a stand alone has no value due to the depletion of the levels of the other 2 amino acids that need to be taken with it? I remember PU stating this a while back. But then it was suggested that you could take Leucine with whey and this 'might' be ok... What would be your thoughts on this? Would this solve the amino problem?

it wouldn't be useless, but I just like to play it safe. If you take it with whey you are probably alright.
