I am currently planning on using this split/intensity style and noticed something. There are no calf exercises. Was this overlooked or is it more of a "if you train legs hard you dont need to do calves?"

I don't understand what you mean when you say

So I should do a total of 16 reps?

yes. go all out on on weight then drop set go another 8 and drop set it and go another 8.
